While out walking my son's neighborhood this morning in SoCal.

Caught a few photos with the real camera before it left for my daughter's house.

 

I actually used that high-school math and learned a few things about wood

during the process. Did you know that aged oak is harder than diamonds?

Not really, but damn! Anyway, it was a fun project that is more fun in

retrospect than it was during endless hours of sanding and fitting.

 

Oak frame with Pine drawers and Paduk trim

 

Including the rabbet cuts and chopping of the pieces out of stock,

25 cut were necessary to make each little box.

 

Someday this may mean more to him than it does as a two-year-old

 

I'm happy that through this Advent Calendar, Matthew can learn that the time

of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus

is really all about little drawers filled with chocolate. :)
