How far in advance to book tours?

I am beginning to prepare for our first Med cruise next summer. We are interested in some private tours (Rome in Limo). How far in advance is really necessary to book these tours? Thanks.

It is very dependent on who you are trying to book. If it is a popular one or two man operation, they may book very early. It was that way when we went to Turkey last summer. Our guide (Levent something) was very popular (he was quite good) so we booked very early, probably 9-12 months before hand. If you are using a larger tour comapany, Romolimo comes to mind, you can probably wait until much closer. Remember you don't have to pay up front so why not go ahead and book once you know what you want to do. You can always cancel.

We used RomeinLimo for our Mediterranean cruise in July of 2008. I booked our private tours for Rome and Florence in December of 2007 and had no problem with availability.
