WarEagle76 Posted March 15, 2011 #51 Share Posted March 15, 2011 It is a nice, relaxing environment where, in our experience, there were only 2-3 tables occupied when we ate and the waiters have always been top notch. You get to know them, they you, and usually by the second day they know what you like/don’t like. You can order anything you want (there is a menu but don’t be hesitant to ask for something not on it). Mimosas/Bloody Mary’s flow freely as do specialty coffee drinks if desired. It is if it is a sea day or you have no plans for the day. On a port intense cruise, we found that it just took too long and got more frustrating than enjoyable. I suppose we could have gotten up earlier but a cruise is suppose to be relaxing.
whatcruiseisnext Posted March 15, 2011 #53 Share Posted March 15, 2011 Do the prices ever go down on a WS? We are going to Alaska on the Golden Aug 6 and would love to snag one but they are over $2000 pp right now on that sailing.
missjanet Posted March 15, 2011 #54 Share Posted March 15, 2011 I think the prices do go down sometimes because that's how we got ours. We were booked into a mini-suite on the CB, but last Thursday I was checking prices on the Princess web site & saw that the WS category was $1499, the same price as an AF GTY. I called Princess & found out about the suite perks before making the change. At this point, those WS are still "only" $1499 on our cruise (sails 6/22) and on the cruise sailing before ours (6/13). If really early port day we usually go up to Horizon for a quick bite. Do the prices ever go down on a WS? Usually depends on itinerary and date. We tried our first suite on a shorter 5 day coastal last May which we got at a good price and we don't always book a suite. Recently saw an online agency with a Window Suite for $872pp including taxes/port charges on Caribbean Princess Repo from SJU-NYC May 1. Would be a great cruise/price to try one out. Just saw $959 (on Princess.com) for a WS on the Golden for 7 day Alaska on Sept. 8, 2012!! That's only $137/day/pp for a suite with all the perks. :) These window suites are giving many of us the opportunity to enjoy a "suite life" that's within our budgets. Thanks, Princess. Yes, and Window Suites are only $1399 on our CB cruise of May 17 (Canada/NE). After I saw this and another similar topic on CC re WS's this a.m., I called Princess immediately and discovered that for not much more money than we paid for our mini-suite, a full suite with all the perks could be had. And so we booked one of the two last WS cabins. Only one left now! I am always learning something new on CC. Thanks to everyone for the great information! Roses2 Posted March 25, 2011 #63 Share Posted March 25, 2011 Make sure you check the May 17th Caribbean Princess Roll Call and the Meet and Greet scheduled for all the Cruise Critic posters. P&J
bdjam Posted March 25, 2011 #64 Share Posted March 25, 2011 The Window Suites remind me of pictures that I've seen of suites on old ocean liners...although they only had portholes! While I would miss a balcony, I could see taking advantage of a window suite deal sometime. I did peek into a WS when I was on Golden Princess and they looked pretty fabulous. Now has anyone got pictures of the Sun Suites on Golden? I was able to check out the posh passage way to them, but never able to see one... I was not quoted 315, so maybe that just opened up. 301 is a little bit smaller than the other Window Suites. Keep fingers crossed for upgrades. :) And I'll second Roses2 -- check out the roll call for our cruise. There are quite a few CCers onboard!! Go-Bucks! Posted March 25, 2011 #67 Share Posted March 25, 2011 Is there just one electrical socket in the WS cabins (like in most other rooms) or are there more than one? Also, where is it (or they) located?

NRG Posted March 25, 2011 #72 Share Posted March 25, 2011 I see that the WS's are located directly below the casino on the Golden. Did anyone have a problem with the smell of cigarette smoke coming down into the suite? This would be a deal breaker for me. What about noise and foot traffic from above? Thanks for the replies. Roses2 Posted March 25, 2011 #73 Share Posted March 25, 2011 We have stayed in WS twice now and have another booked for May. They are the quietest cabins on board. They are on their own corridor with heavy doors at both ends. We have noticed absolutely no external noise filtering into the cabins. There is no people traffic outside of the cabins except for those staying in the 9 WS cabins. P&J
