lisapow Posted July 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 19, 2010 Sorry, I can't help but share my excitment! :D It's only 5 days until the wedding, and 1 week from now I'll be boarding the island princess! We have an ocean view on Plaza deck under the casino and while aboard we're hoping to try Sabatinis and the chefs table. We've signed up with Island Wings in Ketchikan, Harv and Marv in Juneau and will be renting a car at Avis in Skagway (I already printed out my Murray's guide). Does anyone have any last minute advise?
Almagetty Posted July 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 19, 2010 Congratulations and have fun! We flew with Michelle from Island Wings in 2005 and had a wonderful time. Go up to Mt. Roberts in Juneau if you have the time and it's not foggy, the views are very nice.

cruiser113 Posted July 19, 2010 #6 Share Posted July 19, 2010 Consider the champagne breakfast as you cruise the glaciers, and find the secret balcony deck to view the glaciers. Take in all the glory of the beautiful scenery. Have a great wedding and a wonderful honeymoon on the Island
mtaylor04 Posted July 20, 2010 #7 Share Posted July 20, 2010 Relax, don't expect perfection (little things happen during weddings and vacations) and have a great time! Alaska is amazing Congrats
Assateague Island Princes Posted July 20, 2010 #8 Share Posted July 20, 2010 Yes - after (or before) your Harv and Marv's whale watching (tell 'em Gary and Lynda from PA said "hey!"), stop at Tracy's Crab Shack right by the pier and get some of those wonderful, HUGE Alaskan King Crab Legs and her fabulous crab bisque. DELICOUS!!! Have a wonderful time - you are gonna LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Alaska! Perfect place to honeymoon - you done good!;)
ActiveTraveler Posted July 20, 2010 #9 Share Posted July 20, 2010 Although I have never been on a cruise or to Alaska, my older sister and BIL celebrated their second anniversary by boarding a Princess ship in Vancouver. That trip was a two week cruisetour (one week on water, one week on land). I don't know their ship's name. They had a great time. My BIL ate salmon every day, so if you eat fish, try that one. I always give everyone the same advice: TAKE PICTURES! Don't go anywhere either in Alaska or onboard without your camera because you will need it everywhere except the airport. And make sure you have a large memory card, not the little one that came with your camera, because 16 MB is nothing. I can take over 200 pictures in one week, so I have a 2 GB memory card and rechargable lithium battery in my Canon PowerShot 600 camera. I am sure you will have a lot of fun both on water and on land!
annierie Posted July 20, 2010 #10 Share Posted July 20, 2010 ... and I don't mean Diamonds International. ;) Our first trip we bought a small totem pole, signed by the artist, and we bought a small piece of Alaskan artwork and had it shipped home. It still hangs in my dining room twenty years later. My BFF just returned last week and told me that our totem pole is worth at least three times what we paid for it. Our second trip I bought hematite earrings at a small locally owned shop in Juneau. I also have a couple of zippered fleece jackets that are fun to wear around here since one is from the Red Onion and one is from the Red Dog. Leave a business card on the wall at the Red Dog. I found ours from our 1995 trip, still there but mostly covered. I love Alaska. It's one of the most magical places if you leave the tourist areas behind. Don't worry if it rains. It doesn't matter. You can still see whales in the rain. :) We did. We took a wonderful excursion in Skagway where we canoed to the face of a glacier. Yeah, it was a little damp that day but the sun did come out during our trip. Take lightweight rain slickers and wear layers if it does get cold. Enjoy! teachinla Posted July 23, 2010 #14 Share Posted July 23, 2010 We did similar excursions on our Alaska cruise last summer. We stopped at Spirit Lake Lodge. They have a package the includes canoeing on the lake, horseback riding and lunch. It was a lot of fun.

Putterdude Posted July 23, 2010 #16 Share Posted July 23, 2010 About an hour after you pass under the Lions Gate bridge look to starboard and you will see me waiving to you or raising a tall vodka tonic in your honour. Have a wonderful cruise.:)
