LHP Posted July 28, 2010 Author #101 Share Posted July 28, 2010 Once since being platinum they made us wait until self assist people had debarked the ship. I kept saying to the staff... We are all platinum! We get of first! They chose to simply ignore us. For the past couple of years, the Debarktion order was: 1. Platinum - self assist 2. Regular self assist 3. Platinum - regular debark 4. Regular debark However, I have been hearing some chatter about them doing away with the Platinum self assist. So I will be watching the debark letter a little more closely in the future. Also I think Carnival needs to update their perks and Milestone people should have a different color card. ..... Carnival is currently using the old (new) WHITE cards with the Platinum wave that did not go over well....but since the card is WHITE (and everyone else's is blue, gold or platinum) these cards do stand out....even if they are just using up old stock. I agree that Milestone should have some perks added. However, I don't see them changing Platinum ...since it seems to be pretty much in line with the cost of a Carnival cruise. Cinderose Posted July 28, 2010 #102 Share Posted July 28, 2010 Would it not be you "hear" a rumble coming? Main Entry: 1rum·ble Pronunciation: \ˈrəm-bəl\ 1. To make a low pitched noise. If I don't eat, my stomach will rumble. 2. To discover deceitful or underhanded behaviour. The police is going to rumble your hideout. 3. To move while making a rumbling noise. The truck rumbled over the rough road. 4. (slang) fight, brawl. Also there are "Rumble seats" :D

DGP1111 Posted July 29, 2010 #106 Share Posted July 29, 2010 The laundry thing was a one time only thing and they just asked us to please limit ourselves if possible to one bag, but they didn't actually restrict us. That was on my letter for that bloggers sailing, like everyone's, but it was also on my letter for my Carnival Dream sailing this past February as well. * Complimentary Wash and Fold service (one laundry bag per Platinum Guest)
Boozebabe Posted July 29, 2010 #107 Share Posted July 29, 2010 This "perk" may be what we encountered in Key West 2 weeks ago while trying to return onto the ship after excursions. It was insufferably hot and we waited in line over an hour to get back on the ship. There was no shade and no complimentary water (which I have enjoyed on other Carnival cruises while waiting in long hot lines). We were all guided toward the aft entrance. There was at least 1500 people in a line that was not moving. Suddenly someone walked to the fore entrance and walked right onto the ship. The group almost caused a mutiny. Lots of people rushed towards the other entrance. The crew stopped everyone and were told we had to use the aft entrance. People were running everywhere. I have a horrible back condition and can wait in those lines if they keep moving. For some reason this line went nowhere. The line finally started moving and we inched our way along and finally onto the ship. It was funny watching the looks on other passengers faces behind us as they came down the pier and saw the line serpentine along about 4 times. They had looks of total disbelief on their faces. And everyone started grumbling. I have been on 13 cruises and have NEVER encountered lines like this. There should have been someone from the ship out there to help disabled people and there was not. So in conclusion, if this was an example of VIP's getting back on ship first, I think it stinks. I had to attach a paper to my comment card, there just wasn't enough room. DaDivaMom Posted July 29, 2010 #108 Share Posted July 29, 2010 what you most likely saw Boozebabe was crew members going on the ship in civilian clothes. However if it was a Platinum customer, we'll it's a perk they earned I suppose but I thought it was only for tendering ports...
evandbob Posted July 29, 2010 #109 Share Posted July 29, 2010 What, like you're warding off vampires or like it's a torch and you're holding back a mob of angry villagers? One way of looking at it, I guess. Depends on what side of platinum you're on, how you view it. Me, I've earned the right. Don't know what will happen when everyone turns platinum though, that would be a real mob scene....burn down the bridges, oh wait, that's a song...... chickie_mite Posted July 29, 2010 #110 Share Posted July 29, 2010 As a non-Platinum cruiser, it doesn't bother me in the least that Platinum cruisers are afforded these extra perks. Soon and very soon!! :) The only thing that bothers me is that I've paid for enough Carnival cruisers to be a Platinum cruiser, but we always give the cruises as gifts, so they're not in our name. Grrrr.....(a joking grrrr.....). :) Tonight we just purchased another cruise for our son and his wife (in celebration of her obtaining her Masters degree in May). At this rate, our kids will make Platinum before we do! LOL

robtx100 Posted July 29, 2010 #112 Share Posted July 29, 2010 While waiting in line to board the Conquest in Cozumel earlier this year, there was a small rainstorm and a line of about 75 people. Two crew members went past the line to enter through the crew entrance and there was a moblike mentality. People were shouting at them and calling them racial names. It made me embarrassed of my fellow passengers (not the first time on that trip). I can't imagine what would have happened if they had a Platinum line. It would have been good for us, but we may have been thrown off the pier by the mob. It's almost sad how they acted on the pier. I didn't see anyone melt from the rain, nor did I hear of anyone catching pneumonia. I thought it was kind of fun since the rain was cool after a long day in the sun. I doubt it was........ as of now it specifically states in our platinum letter that the perk is for "PRIORITY TENDERING"...... I agree with Diva Mom it was probably a crew member......and even so........why the mob mentality? Talk about jumping to conclusion:cool: I know if there was 1500 people in line you can bet I wouldn't be standing in it:rolleyes:
LHP Posted July 29, 2010 Author #116 Share Posted July 29, 2010 I am really surprised that the Cruise Directors don't mention stuff like Priority Tendering and Platinum line at Guest Services. PROCRUISE Posted July 29, 2010 #117 Share Posted July 29, 2010 Good point, not bad enough on the guest relation desk, now we have another opportunity to jump to the front of the hate parade.... Have to agree. Since we're on vacation, we could care less if we're first or last on a returning tender. We've certainly never received any "first on the tender" when arriving either, since becoming platinum. Are we simply suppose to push through all the passengers on the stairways, announcing we're platinum, to get to the tender first? First on, first off makes no difference to us. Correct, not only that but when we have used this it was by a totally different route. We can out at the tender point but looked like another line. I was really referring to the return tender comments.
echo Posted July 29, 2010 #121 Share Posted July 29, 2010 By the way someone asked earlier about VIP check in and if they could bring people with them, heres what Carnival says: For those guests traveling with an additional stateroom , the additional stateroom may check in through the VIP Program only if, 1) there are minor children traveling in the additional stateroom, or 2) the guests in the additional stateroom share the same Sail & Sign account with the qualified VIP guest. BigDfromTN Posted August 3, 2010 #122 Share Posted August 3, 2010 Depending on the ship...(best as I can remember) their office is just off the Atrium...either to the left port side just before you go into the main theater....OR to the right (still PORT side) as you go into the main theater. Don't ask me how I know.... LOL On the Holiday it was just aft of the guest services on the port side. Don't ask me how and I know and I wont return the favor of asking!!!;)

cascole Posted August 9, 2010 #124 Share Posted August 9, 2010 Just back from Liberty... tender to Cayman. No Platinum tender back to the ship... and in fact, no priority tender to the island either. I spoke with a friend I met onboard who was platinum & he had tried to go to the desk for the typical priority escort. The purser he spoke to there had to go ask if that was even a perk & then when he was told yes, the guest services lead told him to just go down & tell security. ... we all know you dont even get to the point of seeing security until you're almost to the 'ding machine'. I went later so didn't need it this time, but based on that report - they still have a long way to go in this area.

I just go to the stairs and usually there is a crew member that will escort us down. Or I will go down the opposite stairwell of the line and let them know down at the bottom of the stairs that I'm platinum. Never had a problem.
