frito58 Posted August 23, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2010 I just saw on a thread that someone was on the Majesty and they have a new deal that has 8 beers in a collapsible cooler for like $33 and $25 refills . Is this going on fleetwide. I like the sound of it the second deal comes to less than $3.50 a beer before tip . Just wondering if anybody else has seen this on other ships. Cruising89143 Posted August 23, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2010 Last week on the Freedom it was a bucket of six for the regular price of six. No price breaks.

I heard you pay for 8 beers, the waiter takes two of them, then swears at you and jumps on a lifeboat and leaves the ship. Or maybe that happened on a plane, oh well I may be confused (wink wink).;)

tikimon Posted August 23, 2010 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2010 Hey frito what thread did you read this from? Hope this will be going fleetwide. If so it is about time that RCL done some sort of package deal on the beer. Now if they would only do a package on their liquors. I just don't understand RCL's way of thinking, if they would only sell the beer and liquor packages on the ship for cabin consumption at a reasonable price, then people wouldn't have a reason to even won't to smuggle. That's the only reason I have in the past, so I could have a few drinks while out on my balcony. I know some on here say why not just go to the bar and get your drink and bring it back to the cabin or balcony. Well to answer that question, because by the time I get back to my balcony from the bar I would have already drank over half of the drink, therefore I wouldn't have hardly anything left to enjoy on the balcony, (just defeating the purpose) resulting in another trip to the bar and I just don't feel like walking that much. I saw a show on one of the business channels on how the cruise ships have to make so much to ........well, stay afloat. :p The one particular ship they were spotlighting was way down on their alcohol sales and only had one day to go. By the end of the week they had managed to make their goal by pushing drinks on the last day. It was very interesting seeing a cruise ship from the angle of trying to hit their financial goal for the week.

It was on Majesty. Bar staff said it came out a week ago. It will be fleet wide. Don't know if all ships are doing it yet. First 8 beers and the cooler for $33. you keep the cooler(any beer except Fosters Oil Can, you can mix em up if you want.) Bring the cooler back and 8 for $25 the rest of the cruise. Grat extra. Cooler also has a built in bottle opener, too. They were all around the pool and saw quite a few carried around the ship and in the casino. Seemed to go over very well. Aquahound Posted August 24, 2010 #17 Share Posted August 24, 2010 The new deal includes a yellow Royal Caribbean insulated bag with handles and a shoulder strap. This past weekend was the first time I saw them, and it was on the Majesty. I was told the purchase price with 8 beers was $35. Subsequent fill-ups are $25. And no, you can not buy the bag alone. I asked.

frito58 Posted August 24, 2010 Author #20 Share Posted August 24, 2010 This sounds like something I'd be interested in. :) Thats what I was telling our roll call . Its about time they come up with some new ideas, If they are going to be so anal about carry on stuff , be inventive , now if they can come up with a a deal on bottled water thats cheaper than $4 a bottle:eek:. Get some RCI bottles of water that cost peanuts to produce sell them at a price people will buy them.
Rare orville99 Posted August 24, 2010 #21 Share Posted August 24, 2010 They had them on the 8/8 FOS cruise. Brought them out on the last day. Very nice collapsable logo beer tub - I wouldn't call it a cooler, since you couldn't close it up, but it came with an attached bottle opener, and appeared water tight. The one on display at the sky bar was full of ice/water, and it wasn't leaking or cold on the outside. Probably big emough to hold a 12 pack +, but came with choice of 8 beers for ~$34 +tip
