ONT-CA Posted September 30, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2010 Captain Roger Bilton of the Grand Princess advised us that, tomorrow night on route to Akureyri, Iceland, our navigational position we be at 66 o 36.4 N thereby crossing the Artic Circle. Adding that to our previous adventures of crossing the Equator and the International Date Line, leaves us but the Artic Circle to experience. Sumar76 Posted September 30, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 30, 2010 Good for you! How exciting! When we were sailing up the coast of Norway, there was an Artic circle party the night before we were to sail over it, as we were scheduled to cross it around 5am the next morning. I was determined to see the "sign" they had talked about..which in this instance was a large globe sitting on a rock in the water. I had been sleeping and not sure what suddenly woke me up, but when I Jumped up and looked out the window I was lucky enough to see it. We were just coming up to it, so I grabbed my camera and took a picture. Not sure if you will have anything like that when you cross it, but its still a thrill to know you are that far north in the world! Enjoy the rest of your cruise. I will keep checking the Grands web cam to see where you are! Sue
