Sports bars - "Home" teams?

So do the sports bars play the "home port" team's games? I just noticed that my home team (the Padres) will be playing in Seattle during my Alaska cruise next summer. Is it pretty likely that the game will be played in the bar? Or is it just a certain channel and we can only watch what is on that channel?

DISCLAIMER... Yes, I know the Padres are a bunch of chokers but they are still my team... and always will be!

:eek::rolleyes::eek:

Sailed out of Mobile last November and expected that the Alabama game would be televised on board; NOT! There was a near mutiny as we had to endure the game being carried on the Denver affiliate; Texas Tech vs Oklahoma State.

All the TV stations are out of Denver, however on a cruise last October we asked about watching the various ACC and SEC games on Saturday and all the TVs in the sports bar, as well as a huge screen in one of the other bars, was set so we could watch the requested games.

Have no Idea but since I am from Denver it has always worked for me :). You will get the FOX affiliate and the CBS affiliate for sports. AS well as ABC and NBC, so if the game is played on one of these it will be aired but other than that you might be out in the cold. So I would check to see where the games are being aired station wise and then go from there.

Anyone know why the feeds are out of Colorado?

Not all of them are from Denver but it's because that's what's offered with their satellite programming. They are fed through one particular satellite that broadcasts to nearly all of the gulf and the carribean.

Our TV here in Belize is all Denver for the networks as well...must be the same satellite.

Do you get WGN? My tour guide told us that everyone in Belize that watches baseball is a Cubs fan.

Yeah... I do...

It's part of a package of feeds that Carnival purchased, actually, it's the only package that allows the domestic network channels at all. It's called the Turner Cruise Ship Package plus ESPN...

The networks are not always available as the ship may be out of range of that satellite much of the time at sea.

Additionally, in rough seas the system will loose the satellite link and you may not have much of anything on TV.

it seems the cruises will play sports games at the sports bars. If the sports bar is part of the casino like on the dream, it will be there. also, both the sunday and monday night games were on the lido deck screen last week. if the games will be on the lido screen they will be printed in the fun times for the day. the sports bar tv was not posted because the tvs are always on :) as mentioned the feeds are out of denver so this likely will factor into what games are actually on the tv if there are conflicts.
