TCF Posted October 17, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2010 Can anyone tell me if there is a discount to be had if we book our Med cruise on-board while we're on our next cruise? If so , how much? Thanks for the help. Tom&Deb
CruiserBruce Posted October 17, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 17, 2010 Varies by level of cabin and length of cruise. A search found this thread asking the same question. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1043196&highlight=holland+america+fcc
RuthC Posted October 17, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 17, 2010 There's no discount over the HAL price when you book on board. The financial advantage is in the lower deposit of $100 per person on most cruises, and the on-board credit that's given. That credit is combinable with TA and stockholder credits. After you book, you can compare prices with your own, and any other TAs, and transfer your booking if you find a better price/perks.
Bill S Posted October 18, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 18, 2010 RuthC has it right. The only "discount" is on the amount of the cruise deposit: $100 per person versus a percentage of the total cruise fare. Another advantage is that you can make a deposit for an "open" booking, you don't have to pick any particular cruise, and the deposit will be good for up to 4 years. When you decide on a cruise, you can have the deposit applied to that cruise booking.
bob brown Posted October 18, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 18, 2010 Okay a lower deposit is nice, but doesn't really save anything except a minute amount of interest you might realize, leaving the money in the bank longer. What really interests me is what on board credit do they offer for booking an open cruise on board?

No as others have pointed out it can save you dollars as you can take your onboard reservation for a specific cruise to a travel agent who is willing to offer discounts or OBC's. What really interests me is what on board credit do they offer for booking an open cruise on board? Shipboard Credit: 7 - 10 days: Inside - $25 per person Outside - $25 per person Verandah (VA/A - VF/BC) - $35 per person Suite (PS - S/SY) - $50 per person 11+ days: Inside - $50 per person Outside - $50 per person Verandah (VA/A - VF/BC) - $75 per person Suite (PS - S/SY) - $100 per person For FCC (Future Cruise Credit) queries there are a few recent threads on the topic: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1269815&highlight=future+cruise+credit+fcc http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1106708&highlight=future+cruise+credit+fcc :)
