My family is going on Carnival Legend Aug 28 next year. We want to reserve the excursion on our own through legit companies instead of Carnival (especially this one in Belize because Carnival doesn't offer it it seems. Is this a good idea. I don't want to get left behind. Any hints on The Legend and the excursions? We have a 9 year old boy and 11 year old girl.

Two places you might want to check. First is the Port of Call Section of this board:

This is the Belize section, it will have threads on this topic.

As to your question on the Legend, go to the Roll Call section of this board:

Here are the Carnival roll calls, not sure which sailing you are on;

Enjoy your cruise.

http://www.cave-tubing.com ... these guys are absolutely amazing! You'll feel safe and well taken care of, while having a ball. We laughed from the moment they met us at the terminal until we were dropped off after the trip. A word of caution ... if nothing else, bring plenty of insect repellent ... you'll be traveling through a jungle on the way to the river. Have a terrific time!

Agree, we had a great time with this company: Cave-Tubing.Com in Belize.

I did the cave tubing in Belize off of the legend. the bus ride seemed rather long, but it was in itself extremely interesting to observe the countryside. The tubing itself was fantastic, and the guides were knowledgable and friendly. the one thing I would suggest is to bring some extra lightweight clothing to change into or out of, as the PFD leaves you with an odor of mold or mildew having never getting much chance to dry out between uses. It's pretty bad. I might also suggest that if you do the Maya trip in cuzemel that you be prepared for a very brief time at the actual ruins, as much of the trip itself is spent at the various tourist trap market places they stop at. A bit of a disapointment.
