lyjima07 Posted January 14, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2011 Just wondering is a sweater normally needed at night time on the ship?
texkan Posted January 14, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2011 I would suggest that you have a sweater or a shawl. The ac in some areas can be cool.
espmass Posted January 14, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2011 Depends on where you are and how you are. Personally I'm always hot no matter where I am.
Nonna and Papa Posted January 14, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2011 It depends on what you have on. If you have a sleeveless or backless outfit on, you might want to carry something with you if you get chilly easily. If you have an outfit with sleeves, you might be OK. I'm always warm, and enjoy the AC. Mary
phoenix_dream Posted January 14, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 14, 2011 It varies by ship, location on the ship, outfit, and personal preference. Bring a light shawl or sweater just in case. Otherwise, usually you can get a fake pashima shawl in the gift shop for under $20, or at one of the ports.
cb at sea Posted January 14, 2011 #6 Share Posted January 14, 2011 I've always brought a wrap...but have NEVER needed it....of course, we always go to "hot weather" destinations!
radsailor Posted January 14, 2011 #7 Share Posted January 14, 2011 The past 3 cruises I have DEFINITELY needed a jacket/sweater at night. Of course.....they have all been European cruises and not tropical cruises(even in May and August we needed sweaters). We like to sit at the Sunset Bar at night for cocktails and it has always been chilly.
Druke I Posted January 14, 2011 #8 Share Posted January 14, 2011 Both my wife and I often findthe Main Dining Rooms and Show Lounges cooler than we like. I always pack a cardigan sweater or two, and she packs a pashima.
NHCRUISIN Posted January 14, 2011 #9 Share Posted January 14, 2011 If you're cold.
backyardponder Posted January 14, 2011 #10 Share Posted January 14, 2011 We always assume the ship will be cool, so we bring them...even on Caribbean cruises.
Ocean Dancer Posted January 14, 2011 #11 Share Posted January 14, 2011 i love those holey, loose knit sweaters, perfect to dress up a sun dress, or keep the chill off my shoulders, i have them in long sleeve/short sleeve, and black and white. they are easy to pack, just roll in a ball and very light weight, perfect for a/c at dinner. true45 Posted January 14, 2011 #12 Share Posted January 14, 2011 Echo Ocean Dancer Additionally, I love the Travelers line from Chicos - light, packable, washable/dryable jackets. On Century, the movie theater was so cold I needed a blanket + sweater, also RCCL's Sovereign Bolero lounge. You just never can predict. Also, sometimes going on deck is so windy a coverup helps to get comfy. Linda
Rare Lois R Posted January 14, 2011 #13 Share Posted January 14, 2011 Hi,:) I usually bring a cardigan with me. I think that just comes from my upbringing....no matter where we went, my Mom ALWAYS said, pack a sweater, even a lightweight one~just in case;) So, normally I pack a black one. The color goes with most everything:) I rarely ever use it but of course the one time I would decide to leave it home? Then I would need it~so I make sure to throw it in everytime. eandj Posted January 14, 2011 #14 Share Posted January 14, 2011 I bring a sheer wrap as well as a cashmere one. Both black. Have only used the sheer one indoors, but used the other while on deck. Works perfectly.
jessNlane52804 Posted January 15, 2011 #15 Share Posted January 15, 2011 My one packing regret from our Solstice cruise in the eastern Caribbean last week is that I didn't pack enough warm clothing. I was always cold in the evenings because it was very windy walking around outside on the upper decks and I thought the AC was freezing inside. I always had to hop in the shower to get warm.
