Obc question

Recommended Posts

It depends on what kind of OBC you have. Anything that is not given to you by RCI (Visa points, TA credit, etc.) is put back on your card or you can ask for cash at guest relations before you get off the ship. Any OBC that is provided by RCI (booking a cruise on a cruise, shareholder credit, etc.) is not returned.

As a last resort you can always pull cash out of the casino for a 3% service fee....

Hope this helps.

So, have $200 OBC. What happens to the balance if we don't spend all of it? I don't think there is a chance of that happening, but was wondering if they would give it to me in cash?

The obc that is non-refundable is used up first. "Your" money/obc is used last, and if there is any left at the end of the cruise you can go to Customer Service and receive it in cash (no fees) the last day of the cruise. If you don't cash it out it is credited to the credit card you used for your SeaPass account on board the ship.

I had some that was NEVER credited back to my credit card. Now, if I have any left my I get it out at the casino and pay the 3%. I’d rather pay 3% on “free” money than lose any of it. Not sure how any of it is coded, but I was not permitted to get it from CS desk .

good luck

It depends on the type of obc you had. If it was from your travel agent or part of a special sale, then it's non-refundable. Only what "you" paid originally in the cruise price is refundable at the end of the cruise.

I agree if you have non-refundable obc it's better to go to the casino and get it for the 3% fee. However, if you check with the CS desk around day 3 to check what kind you have, then they will tell you how much is refundable or not. Then, you can plan accordingly. The non-refundable is used first as you make charges to your SeaPass account.

TA OBC is definitely refundable as is Visa points.

IMO.....you will spend it....:D

There is alcohol....there is the gift shop.....there are photos.....excursions, etc.... And none of it is cheap.

We went through $600 OBC in a week. LOL It goes REALLY fast!

Have fun with it!:D

On our first RCI cruise last year, they gave us our money back from unused OBC in cash at the pursers desk.

On the cruise we just returned from, we had $100 OBC that we didn't even know about until the last minute. ( We thought we had $50). When we checked at the purser's desk the last night it we were not able to cash it in. It was use it or lose it. It said right on our statement, "No cash value".

We spent it on pictures, but could have used the casino as well.

So, I guess it must depend on what 'kind' of OBC it was. Since we didn't know we were getting any, I have no idea why it was nonrefundable. But, it was a nice surprise.

Hi all. Thanks for the info. The OBC we have is from booking a balcony.

(our TA paid the gratuities). So, when necessary we will spend in the Casino or on special coffees.

In any case, I gather we should get some back if we haven't spent it all.

That would be nice - it would be especially nice if, for once, we didnt spend anything at all - some hope.!!!
