Necklace thing???

I've seen some pictures of people wearing a CCL necklace type thing that holds their Sign and Sail card. I am guessing you can buy these in the gift shop?? Any idea of how much they cost?

How many people use them? What else can you use them for? :o

Iv got half a dozen kinds. There are longer beaded ones they sell in the shops, blue and clear beads alternating or red and clear (RCL has the same except the beads are gold and clear alternating). PS I think these were $7.95 but it could have been 8.95, but they look nicer.

You can get a free springy one from the casino.

Did you know CC sells them either separate or in a group of stuff. I got the group that includes the cruisecritic fanny pack that is made for also larger people than others I have seen, and big enough for a book. The ones from CC, the card thingee detaches.

i like the ones that you just have a card that you get a hole punched at the pursers desk and use that way, so you dont have to take it out of the clear holder each time to open your door.

all kinds of choices.. I got more too lol :D

I always go to the casino and ask them for....ummmm....not sure what you would call them but they are springy little wiry things that one side has a slide clip and the other has a small ring that you can put your card on after it has a small hole punched into it by the cashier. You can clip it onto your belt, purse or around your neck and they are free. :)

I bought a Lanyard in the shops, it cost $5.95, and it is cloth, that has Carnival printed on it. It came with a vertical plastic pouch, I just love it.

To me, it is worth it, as I fly to my cruise, and I wear that with my driver's license inside the pouch, and I don't have to fish it out, I know exactly where it is.

I don't wear it in the dining room, I put it in my camera case. You can also buy one at an office supply store, such as Staples, etc.

Do they wear those things in the Dining Room :D:eek::D

actually, yes I do.

My lanyard has a plastic pouch. Inside my pouch is my sign and sail card, my drivers license and a few $1.00 bills.

My clothes have no pockets =- nor do i carry a pocketbook or purse.

to get the curly thing for free at the casino- you need to punch a hole in your sign and sail card- since you need your license to get back on the ship in ports-- that thing wont work for me--since youcant put holes in your DL.

I don't like to wear things around my neck after having a bad experience with a patient attempting to strangle me with my stethescope:eek:, so I prefer the stretchy curly one you get from the casino. It has a hook on one end so you can attach it to your waistband, belt loop, or bathing suit strap and then just put the card in your pocket, or attach it to itself and let it hang.

I never wear mine to the DR, but carry it with my camera or in my evening purse.

I love my Cruise Critic lanyard that Firefly described. It is very convenient to undo the plastic squeeze buckle to hand the card to the crew member who needs it, without having to take it off my neck. Just go to the pursers desk or casino and ask them to punch a hole in your S&S card, then attach it to the lanyard. With this, I know my card isn't going to fall off and get lost. Lambknuckles told me that in a gust of wind when she was on an open deck, her card flew out of that plastic pouch that some of the holders have, and the wind took it right off the ship!

You can find the CC lanyard through the Store link at the top of this page. I've worn mine daily on over 10 cruises, and the little buckle thing still works great. I give the CC lanyards a big thumbs up! :)

I am seriously trying to figure out what this looks like, I have seen a lanyard but not like this...got a pic? Anyone, of the one from the casino?

The dining room question was a JOKE people. That's sort of what these imply::D:eek:

Some peeps get so uptight over hats, jeans, shorts, almost anything, in the DR, I felt compelled to ask (JOKE) about these little hanging things. :D:D:D:o

I believe that you are seeing them wearing the lanyard that you can get in the casino and I do not believe there is a cost for them - but I can be wrong. From my understanding you can go to the casino and have them punch a hole in your S&S card and you will get a lanyard to put your card on.

I love my lanyard and use it every cruise! Even in the dining room. LOL My kids have their own too.

Me too! I have a CC one and a Carnival one and I stick my whale tail ship pins on them, lol. Much easier to find my SS card with it attached to the lanyard. :)

There was a guy at the port in San Juan selling lanyards two for $10. They were slightly cheaper than the ones on the ship. We didn't buy them and I ended up using a small pocket of my small around the neck camera case for my S&S. Worked fine and then I had my camera with me all the time too. :)

IF you go on the Behind the Fun (behind the scenes tour) you get a nice one with the Carnival log and Behind the Fun printed on it, kind of silky feeling. A nice little memento from the tour...you also get some other nice items, but don't want to be a spoiler! Lydia of Ohio

They are great for my kids (11 & 10 ), we bought lanyards for them on our last cruise mainly because I was tired to fish out their SS cards out of my bag everytime they wanted a soda.

I was scared at first that they would loose their SS cards but I guess we explained everything right it all worked out and they were very responsible about handling their SS cards.

The lanyards are already packed for our next cruise ;)

PS...they don't wear them in the MDR:D:D

Do you mean the Lanyard? If it's the regular type of lanyard then you can get them in the gift shop, I'm not sure of the cost. If it's the "curly" stretchy one, then you can get those from the casino cash desk for free.

You can get a Vera Bradley lanyard too...there are all kinds out there
