karen327 Posted February 19, 2011 #6 Share Posted February 19, 2011 Do they have comfy lounge chairs on the promonode deck? How is the entertainment in the theater? Was embarkment at port canaveral as bad as everyone says compared to lets say Miami?
lambs2 Posted February 19, 2011 #7 Share Posted February 19, 2011 Have you tried the new Moderno Churrascaria specialty restaurant or talked to anyone who has eaten there? Curious about how folks are enjoying it.
dougbass Posted February 19, 2011 Author #8 Share Posted February 19, 2011 the beds on our balcony are soft, they are called bliss. havent tried the moderno yet but we are going to, it is always crowded so it must be good, le bistro was very good, and the steak house was good, but not worth 25 bucks per person. the food on the no charge resturants is just so- so. the entertainment on the ship is fair. the juggler is good and funny but he seems to drop alot... the comedian was pretty funny, but he seems to refer back to old jokes too often. the sun production cast were fair, but not as good as any other cruises we have been on. the singer elvy rose was very talented and energetic if you like swing or blues. we just sailed from st thomas and st marrten and nassau, we love st martten! orient beach was nice but we forgot that clothes are optional! this week we are going to cozumel, key west, guatemala, belize. the back to back cruises is interesting but we are expecting the same shows and everything this week. feel free to ask more ? we sail at 4 pm! i will try to put up some pics

Sauer-kraut Posted February 19, 2011 #11 Share Posted February 19, 2011 the juggler is good and funny but he seems to drop alot... That's part of his act... I think he gets paid by the hour. :D

coach n ref Posted February 19, 2011 #13 Share Posted February 19, 2011 Did you notice any drink specials being offered on your first half of your cruise? I'm looking for 2 for 1 glasses of wine or mixed drinks, like I had on Costa last year. If so, I won't carry much wine on board.
dougbass Posted February 19, 2011 Author #14 Share Posted February 19, 2011 they have margarita and martinis 2 for1 almost everyday in certain bars, tapas is a nice quiet place with great nachos! we didnt try any of the martini tastings or wine. they had liquior tastings on the embark day. i never saw any wine specials except the buy 6 bottles and get 20% off. Sauer-kraut Posted February 19, 2011 #17 Share Posted February 19, 2011 Las Ramblas is the tapas bar, in the afternoons they offer FREE tapas, we had some diablo shirmp once and they were firey! Lunch is served up there as well, sort of like a deli/panni place with soup, its nice to go up there get the food and then eat outside, there are a few tables on that level or just take the outside staircase down to the Great Outdoors. NMLady Posted February 19, 2011 #19 Share Posted February 19, 2011 i am currently onboard so anyone have any questions? No questions. But if you get a chance, tell the dealers in the casino that Joseph and Mary say hello. We were on the Sun from 9/17-10/23 and made quite a few friends among the crew, especially the casino dealers. :D If you run into Alejandro on the cruise director's staff, or Rene and Cherry, cabin stewards, give them regards from Mr Joseph and Ms Mary. If Leon (Leonard?) is still playing piano in Windjammer, be sure you spend some time listening to him. He's a real delight. Have some waffle in Moderno for me (it was Pacific Heights when we were aboard), and have a drink in the Sports Bar for us. We miss the Sun and wish we could be cruising on her again. Have fun and enjoy your cruise.
Rare Clay Clayton Posted February 19, 2011 #20 Share Posted February 19, 2011 Thanks for the pictures....sad that they didn't refurbish the staterooms while it was in drydock. Looks exactly the same as it did in 2005 and then again twice last year...guess it will be the same next October too.
cirman52 Posted February 19, 2011 #21 Share Posted February 19, 2011 We are doing the Ta on the Sun in April, it will be the 1st cruise with NCL for my partner & I. We are both tall ( 6'4) & a bit over 200 lbs. :) Is the shower in the balcony rooms small? On HAL, I think I had about 2" of headroom, luckly, we had a shower / tub combo as well as the free standing shower. Any info you can pass on ( it's your nickel for the internet), I'm sure all of us would appreciate it. thanks, ron
