cruiser_new Posted February 23, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2011 Have only cruised once, and as an experienced blackjack player was aghast at the the way EVERYONE lost, including me. Of course everyone wants to win more, but when I play at land-based casinos, even if I am not winning, usually at least someone does OK. Visited the casino every day and never saw anybody actually win. Getting ready to cruise again in a couple months, and want to know...do all of you trust that they are on the up and up? riverboatgambler Posted February 24, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 24, 2011 There is no way any major cruise line would risk their reputation by stealing. Operating a casino fairly is a license to steal anyways. On Princess they use a 6 deck continous shuffler, in my opinion it makes the blackjack unplayable. I either play craps or 3 card poker. cb at sea Posted February 24, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2011 They are on the "up and up", but they do have some VERY lucky dealers.....
sailor_jimc Posted February 24, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 24, 2011 I hear you cruise_new.... I find it is hit or miss. Some cruises everyone is loosing and others many are winning. I have gotten to the point where if I can't win 1 out of the first 2 or 3 sessions I'll give up on BJ for the cruise. Last cruise I took I seemed to be able to win more than I lost but I started being very aware of what the continuous shoe was doing. I'm sure it was my imagination only but I found the shoe would group high cards together and then low cards together. So if I was playing and having a good run, I would stop or back way down on the bet when the small cards started appearing until I could tell if it was a grouping of like card or not. My theory was that they probably played with those same decks in that machine for many days and due to the way the people naturally play and the fact that the shuffle process is not truly random that the same types of cards get bunched together over time. In any case, yes I find BJ on the ships to be very different from BJ on land...

Securityman Posted March 19, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 19, 2011 I normaly play Let It Ride in the casino ,being use to the automatic shufflers in Vegas & Tunica it feels funny having the cards dealt singlely on the ship. When asked a pit boss said that they do not have anyone on board that can fix an automatic shuffler. Who fixes the slots on board? All they need to do is train one of the slot repair persons!
