Blackjack minimum bet on RC?

Recommended Posts

Sailing on Allure next month and I posted it on that board with no response....someone around here must know the minimum bet at the BJ tables on Royal Caribbean....are they still as low as $5? My folks were on Holland America last week and it was there.

TIA

From my memory of previous cruises, that would be correct. However, it seems like those lower minimum tables aren't as popular. I'm not a big time spender, but I prefer to play at at table of several people, but it is frequently hard to find anyone at those tables.

Allure has $2 video blackjack machines in the non-smoking corridor at the back of the casino.

Thanks for that info. Not sure how much I trust electronic gambling machines.

Minimum bet on the Adventure last week was $6.

That was my experience on the Navigator in December. Want you to play the sucker bet. Also payout odds were 3 for 2 instead of 2 for 1 on a blackjack.

I avoid the $6 tables as they are usually filled with people that have no idea how to play.

They will split 10's or take a hit on 13 when the dealer has a 6.

Why would you care? That has just as much chance to help you as to hurt you. How other people play blackjack have ZERO impact on your odds of winning or losing.

Actually multiple players helps. One player has a 15 and dealer draws to 16. The dealer can end the game there. With a second player who has 17, the dealer now has to draw again, increasing the chances of a bust.

With single deck the multiple players help even more.

Not true! If house rules call for dealer to hit on anything less than 17, the dealer MUST hit, regardless of what others at the table have. If the dealer does not hit on a 16, then they are breaking house rules and the pit boss should be notified immediately.

The rules of BJ onboard state the dealer must draw to at least a hard 17 therefore the dealer can't stop at 16 even though all players in the game have less than 16. That is why you don't hit a possible bust hand when the dealer's face card is a 6, 5 or 4 and sometimes a 3 in order to let the dealer bust before you do.

Well back to the original question and an attempt to END the debate on the proper way to play. For a live dealer Allure only had $10 minimum tables regardless of time of day on my sailing on January 30. They did have the video blackjack that you can bet less on. I also agree video BJ is a joke, but so are minimum $10 tables.

THANK YOU!!! I have been playing blackjack for years and have seen "bad" players make hands for the table as often as they cost us a break card. I have never understood the people who get hysterical when someone takes a hit when they supposedly shouldn't -- particularly since the only person whose odds of winning they are affecting are their own.

lol, where were you playing bj that this occurred? I have never heard of that happening in any casino I have been to! I think you got scammed or did not understand the rules. The number of people at the table, and whether or not people are playing smart (i.e. maximizing their chances of winning) has exactly 0% impact on your odds of winning at bj.

When I was on the Freedom in November there were $6/$10/$25 tables all multiple deck. They had 1 single deck BJ with a $5 min. 75% of the time when I went we had a full table. Fist part of the cruise I happen to be there with the same 5 people and we got to know each other. They even taught me how to play better BJ. Some nights we just got on that winning role and were having tons of fun. That week I ended up $60 ahead when all was said and done. I am looking for that same table when I go back on the Freedom come April.

The first scenario was presented to me by a friend as to why to not play the game as the lone player at a table. I don't play blackjack personally, so I apologize for the mistake. The second point stands, as statistically (read: counting cards) multiple players in a single deck game produce more cards and increased knowledge for players.

While there is a very, very small advantage in single card bj to having several players (but only if you are one of the last players to act and know the math behind card counting). However, this is more than accounted for by the casino as generally casinos have differences in payouts for single deck bj than multiple deck bj that tilts the odds back in their favor (i.e. a blackjack paying less on a single deck table than a multiple deck table). Bj has good odds compared to most options at a casino (if one knows how to play), but the odds are still a bit in the casinos favor. Generally gimmicks such as single deck and bonus wheels put the odds even slightly more in the casinos favor.

Please tell me where you saw the house paying 2 to 1 on a blackjack, and I'll play there all day long. The standard payout for decades has been 3 to 2. What a lot of the casinos have done in the past few years is lower these payouts to 6 to 5. This drastically increases the casino advantage, and I for one will not play these games.
