Good news huh?? RCL I heard does its own internet, vs Carnival (and Princess) who farms it out to a third party and it starts at 75 cents a minute.

For what its worth, its a little cheaper on RCL... though they dont have wifi on all their ships yet all over the ship.

If you are C&A member you could find a coupon book in your cabin upon arrival that could have discount coupons in it for the internet use.

I don't remember the break down, but I first used it when I was Platinum. Once you reach Diamond, it goes to free 30 minutes per pax. I combined both coupons and enjoyed 1 hour of free internet.

Best wishes to your ill family member, and hoping all goes well.

Thank you for your kind thoughts, we are Gold level I shall have a look at the coupon book and see if there is anything.

You are most welcome. Though I am sorry that I can't remember what coupons are in the gold package, I hope you can find some discounts! :)

Perhaps a talk with the customer service desk to let them know your situation. They may help you also.

Have a wonderful cruise! :)

Platinum/Emerald is $7.50 or 15% whichever is the greater

However they will only give you 15% off the basic package or $5.30 - although I would have thought it should have been $7.50 as that is greater, or that is how I read it anyway.

We had 2 coupon books in our cabin, since husband and I are both "Gold". I asked if I could apply both coupons and they said "certainly" and did so. We bought the lowest-price package and prepped our family ahead of time on emailing--we told them, if it's urgent, say so in the subject line! That way I didn't spend precious minutes sifting through routine emails.

The fastest wi-fi connection we found (we had our own laptop) was the Cafe Promenade on the Voyager. The slowest was in their own Library/Internet area!

So you can't use the wifi if you have a Mac??

You can. They just don't know how to answer any questions if you have any problem with it (not much different than if you have a PC though).

I remember 7 years ago asking about internet on-board and was shot down in flames by many. How times change. Those that said I should not take a computer on-board probably do so themselves now.

One thing is for sure, then the costs were a LOT less - you could connect 24 hours a day for one set weekly fee. Okay it was dial-up, but the speed was fine.

Once again wonderful advise, as there are 3 in our cabin we may be able to use them all, worth a try anyway. Also handy to know about the cafe, as we are usually in there most days. I feel better now knowing we will be able to keep in touch.

Thanks to all.
