Road From Rome to Civitavecchia

Has anyone travelled this road? My husband and I along with 4 others have hired a shuttle to take us to the post from Rome and I was just wondering what the trip there is like? Does the road pass through towns or countryside or both? Is it a pleasant trip?

Most of it is freeway (at least Italien freeway) or dual carrige way. I wouldn't call it pretty. The first part is really urban sprawl and the rest is grass land until just before you hit the coast. It is isn't a picturesque trip as such but then again maybe I have taken the trip too often

As mentioned, the drive is mainly on highway. It is not an equivalent of a ride on a country road. The drive takes around 90 minutes (could be slightly less) depending on time of day and overall traffic.

It is nothing exciting, once you clear the port area it is just countryside until you get to Rome.

The train works great and saves time.. easy to use.
