vasoccerchick Posted May 28, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2011 Do people stay dressed up for shows and activities, or do most people change into more casual attire after dinner?
firefly333 Posted May 28, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 28, 2011 I change. A lot of people walk thru the promenade and pose for pictures.

*Mach* Posted May 28, 2011 #5 Share Posted May 28, 2011 It's about 50/50... We stay dressed until about 10 PM or so and then change to run about and have fun for the rest of the evening. I suspect that more folks who do early dining stay dressed into the evening than do folks who dine late... :)
Curt Jerome Wild Posted May 28, 2011 #6 Share Posted May 28, 2011 There is no one size fits all answer for this question... Some people stay dressed up all night, as they figure it's a unique occasion for them. Other people change ASAP after dinner, as they are uncomfortable. Still others do a small change after dinner (like men ditching their jackets, or women just changing to more comfortable shoes) and continue the evening like that. You will see all three options in varying amounts depending on the particular ship, itinerary, and time of year (it always seems that more people dress up on the ships in October, November, and December), and on ships that have more people who just drive to the ship (LA, NY, etc.) So, do what you would like to do, as you'll be fitting in with a certain portion of the crowd that night anyway. Personally I think it's fun to see people in all various states of Formal, Elegant, and Casual all walking around the same ship in the evening. It's like what you see on a NYC Subway in Manhattan on the weekends! Soup to Nuts!:D
Colorado Kat Posted May 28, 2011 #7 Share Posted May 28, 2011 After dinner, we wander the ship for a while, for people watching purposes. Then we change, and head off to shows, karaoke, piano bar, etc.

jetsfan Posted May 28, 2011 #9 Share Posted May 28, 2011 We stay dressed most of the nights. It is just so different than the every night thing in my house; carpools, practices, and the thousands of things that we have to do around the house. We find a great place to sit and people watch. Later at night it is off to the different bars to check things out.
mrobnmel Posted May 28, 2011 #10 Share Posted May 28, 2011 We stayed dressed up, but I would not have felt out of place if we had changed. Do whatever strikes you at the time and have fun, you are on Vaca after all:)
arush5268d Posted May 28, 2011 #11 Share Posted May 28, 2011 I stay dressed up, but later on in the evening I may drop my suit jacket off in my room.
toddraz Posted May 28, 2011 #12 Share Posted May 28, 2011 We usually get some pics, and I go to the casino feeling a bit like James Bond in Casino Royale. :D

JennLuvs2Cruise Posted May 29, 2011 #16 Share Posted May 29, 2011 I stayed dressed up after dinner - I rarely have the opportunity at home to do so, so it's enjoyable on a cruise. I like looking glamorous while watching a show or going for a stroll - makes me feel good about myself. However, my fiance is very different. He can't wait to race back to the cabin after dinner to change back into casual clothes. Dressing up is so not meant for him at all, even though he always looks handsome. golfadj Posted May 29, 2011 #18 Share Posted May 29, 2011 We change. If show is fairly soon after dinner one of us gets seat while the other changes and than we switch.
breezycruiser Posted May 29, 2011 #19 Share Posted May 29, 2011 We stay dressed up. I just go back to the room to take off my heels and put on a cute pair of sandals (easier to dance in) but keep my cocktail dress on.
Chris41 Posted May 29, 2011 #20 Share Posted May 29, 2011 We stayed dressed however if you want to get casual you will fit right in. Everyone is out having a good time and to tell the truth I don't believe most people care what you are wearing.
marshhawk Posted May 29, 2011 #21 Share Posted May 29, 2011 I change my shoes, DH takes off the jacket. But after dinner we usually pose for a few pics and then do the swap to comforable. I am not uncomfortable in a dress, wear them every day, but heels? Those I rarely wear.:)
disfan13 Posted May 29, 2011 #22 Share Posted May 29, 2011 We change the minute we can. Formal is not our thing. same here :) My Partner wears a suit / tie every day - it's always an argument to have him take a suit or even a jacket on Vacation! tef43 Posted May 29, 2011 #24 Share Posted May 29, 2011 Since Carnival abolished "Formal" night, it is no longer an issue. If Carnival no longer cares, than neither do I.
CruiseHealing Posted May 29, 2011 #25 Share Posted May 29, 2011 Since I am already in shorts, sneakers and a golf shirt, I don't have to change. Since it is formal night I wear my newest golf shirt. Even in my shorts and newest golf shirt, I still look better than most men in their suites.
