Qsine

Is this the kind of restaurant where you do one night just for the experience, or is it the type of place you will want to do multiple times?

We're planning on doing specialty restaurants only on our upcoming Silhouette cruise and we love Murano and enjoy Tuscan Grille. Obviously we have no idea about the Lawn Club Grille yet but we're trying to plan how many nights we would like to do each restaurant. Is Qsine a place we'd want to go back to?

Hi Susie,

I have read your posts before and know that you guys enjoy fine food and wine. Sadly, I am not a fan of Qsine and don't think its like Murano or Tuscan Grill where you would want to visit several times. Not my cup of tea and from what I know of you guys, it is not fine dining by any means.

Enjoy your cruise;)

We did Qsine on Eclipse with a group of 11 and it was fantastic. Not the kind of thing I would do more than once a cruise, but definitely so different and eclectic.

Murano I could do a couple of times. We skipped Tuscan Grille because we ran out of time on a 7 night itinerary. But that's why we booked the Equinox TA so next time we can do Silk Harvest and Tuscan Grille, as well as one or two nights at Murano.

I absolutely enjoyed Qsine, but even w/ careful planning on the part of all 4 of us, I thought it was too much food and we all were stuffed and food went uneaten. The food is very good (as opposed to fantastic), but it's more the novelty/gimmick that makes it fun. Not something I'd ever do twice in 1 cruise. In fact, unless my travel mates want to go, I won't be back in December.

Hi Susie,:) I love good wine and food and enjoyed my dinner in Qsine. I would say to try it once. It is (in my opinion) a very different type of

dining experience. It is alot of food, (really ALOT) and it takes A LONG

(really LONG) for the dinner. I went with 3 gals from the roll call I was

on back in November. We had an 8:30 reservation and did not finish

till almost midnight. If I ever go again, it will be at an earlier time;)

since it does take up the whole evening. And another thing, I don't

believe you can compare it to any of the other restaurants. I mean

of course you can, but they are nothing like it or it is nothing like

them. It is not a good comparison is what I mean.

As you can see there are various responses, as there are to everything

concerning a cruise. Just depends if you want to try something out of

the ordinary. I would say it is worth it once:D but that is just my

opinion.

Thanks everyone for the input. We're prebooking our specialty dining (I saw RCCL put their prices up so we decided to book in case X follows suit) and weren't sure whether to make 1 booking or 2. I think we're just going to keep it to one for now and we can always add another if we really enjoy it.

We did book for 6pm- thanks for the tip!

Susie, just go with an open mind:D and although I never eat early

on a cruise, if I was to go there again I would book for 6 or 6:30 too:)

Your menu is an I-pad and there are alot of choices.;)

We, too, wished we had gone earlier. We had an 8 p.m. reservation and we didn't finish until midnight.

Another hint...if you like escargot, order the lobster escargot! And the Kobe beef sliders are out of this world!

We usually eat early- all our other reservations are for 6:30 but we did 6 for Qsine. Hopefully it won't run too late! I'm usually looking for a snack around midnight and don't want to be too full LOL.

I like lobster but not escargot- how does that work? :D

How much longer till January, again?

Susie, you will probably be done between 9:30 and 10:00.....just a

guess. But you will NOT be wanting a midnight snack;)...or I should

say if you do want one? I would be very surprised:D

I love Murano for fine dining but Qsine was campy fun and, in my opinion, not to be missed. We reserved ahead (online) for the end of the cruise as this venue is best experienced with a large group and we were only two. So we hooked up with couples we met at the cruise critic gathering and others. Our table kept expanding.. (as did we!) Started at 6 and missed the show- but worth it. Those who did not reserve ahead were not able to get a reservation unless they added themselves on to someone else's. I suggest a 6:00 reservation and bring a camera.

I'm just wondering what the heck happens that takes 4 hours LOL. Even Murano is more like 2 1/2. But I guess I'll find out! (and hopefully it's worth missing the snack!)

I keep hearing that it's better as a large group. Maybe some of the people on our Roll Call would like to join us. I'll have to ask.

We don't go see the shows anyway so that's not a big deal but we like to get a seat at the poker table before it gets filled up! I suppose we could play blackjack for one night instead. :D

Susie, my husband and I are foodies (I'm a professional chef) and we found Qsine really fun! We went with another couple from our roll call. While the food is by no means gourmet, it is all a good representation of what it is supposed to be. I think our experience lasted from 6:30pm to 10:30pm and we shared 15 courses.

Later my husband and I went to Murano and found it pretentious and the food poor quality compared to 4 and 5 star restaurants we are used to.

I think you will enjoy Qsine - especially if you go with another couple - it's meant to be a food party and that it is!

Hi Jerseygirl - was your group of 11 all seated at the same table. I have a group reservation for 20 and I am wondering about the seating. Will we be seated at different tables?

They actually made an exception by allowing us to put 11 at one table. There are no tables that would hold 20. I think you should go talk to the maitre 'd as soon as you board and see if they can seat 10 and 10 near each other.

Sat at a table for 12 on the Eclipse. They used the large, long table in the center of the room. The large piece of glass in the center made eye contact with the opposite half of the table virtually impossible. We would have been far better off with two tables for six. Loved the concept and presentation. Found it to be a one time per cruise experience. I would note that because of the type of experience the room could get a bit loud. I would hope that a very large group would take into consideration that others not in the group will be sharing the room. I mention this only because my DW and I once sat at a table for 2 at the Tuscan Grille when a large and well lubricated group of 10 was seated very close to us. It was impossible for us to have a conversation. We left before dessert (perhaps a good thing). The staff tried to quited down the group without success. There were lots of complaints that night.

I have a group of 12 and want to sit at one table. Can't make reservations online for 12 at 6:30 as I tried. So I went ahead and made them for 6, hoping to see the maitre'd once we board to change it to 12. Want the 6:30 time slot the second day out, which is a sea day so might be popular. Any other suggestions as to how I can get the reservation done ahead of time just to guarantee the table?

We made a booking for 2 and have invited others on our Roll Call to join us but the timeslot is now showing sold out online. I emailed the Captain's Club and they basically just told us to wait till we get onboard and then change the booking. Hopefully that works out!

if you could I'd recommend having the other six reserve a second group of 6 at the same time slot and then ASAP once you are on board stop by the restuarant and ask them to join the two groups together.

Forgive me for asking a stupid question, but is the experience so lengthy -- and is it better to be part of a large group -- because you simply have so many tempting items you want to try? Or is it because, like many specialty restaurants, that they bring you lots of extra stuff you didn't order?

Can my wife and I still have a great time just the two of us? (OK, with just a little gluttony?)

When Eclipse made it over to the US after its tour of Europe last November we made reservations as we were on the 3 nite mini, before our 7 niter. We never do specialty restaurants but this is so unique and funky we booked it for both cruises. After having gone the first time I wasn't too keen to try again as there are so many choices and there were only 2 of us and we walk out of there so stuffed. But I must say I enjoyed the 2nd time much better - we were prepared to either forego things we tried once, or having seen something unique at the next table we tried that, but there were a couple of things we just had to have again so we made sure we kept room for them.

I think it would be more fun with larger groups as you can sample off each person. With only 2 a lot of items are for 4 people so you eat them cuz you feel guilty to leave it behind (at least that's what we told ourselves!).

I plan to make sure there is Qsine on my next trip as I am having disco shrimp, filet mignon withdrawals. And the chocolate dessert was heaven - thank goodness they actually wrapped it up for me to take back to the cabin as I could not finish it but couldn't bear to leave it behind.

Enjoy!

We ate at Qsine last March on the Eclipse, and just adored it. We're going back this march and I'm debating whether to book once or twice. There is so much to chose from. I agree w/ the prebvious poster that Murano is pretentious and not great. Loved Tuscan Grill. Did it twice. As I'm writing this, I think I'll book Qsine twice, and can always cancel. It's hard to get a reservation later in the cruise because word gets out. Amazing.
