Lynniepoo Posted June 9, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2011 DH and I are going on a 12 day cruise next May beginning in Barcelona and we are flying in the day before. We'd like to stay on Las Ramblas - can anyone give us suggestions on good hotels? If possible, we would also like to be within reasonable walking distance from the ship. Thanks!!! :D
Rare Keith1010 Posted June 9, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2011 I just wanted to mention that there are two cruise ship terminals. One is fairly close to Las Rambles and the other one is really not walkable with luggage and is across the bridge. Keith
dolittle Posted June 9, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 9, 2011 We stayed at the hotel Curious .It is just right for A couple the rooms are small but laid out well. It is right off the Las Ramblas next to the farmers market we also got free breakfast . Very nice staff, it is an easy walk to the port area. Walking to the ship is longer but it can be done if you are up to it. There are many reviews of this hotel on trip adivisor.
KayAnnie Posted June 9, 2011 #4 Share Posted June 9, 2011 We stayed at Hotel Regina last year for $130 last year. It is right off the Placa de Catalunya and we loved it. Modern, desk spoke English and great location. The terminals are not walkable, but you can catch a bus (the blue bus) from the Colombus monument at the bottom of the Ramblas, and there is a metro that goes from the Placa to the bottom of the Ramblas. I have a fairly good map of the terminal area on my website on the Barcelona port info page. Have a blast and feel free to ask any further questions about the hotel or whatever. SuiteTraveler Posted June 9, 2011 #5 Share Posted June 9, 2011 The best hotel on Las Ramblas is Hotel 1898 - near the Bouqueteria, near a Starbucks (for a cheap breakfast) with a grotto pool in the basement - fabulous after a hot day touring. Did I mention the great bar on the roof???
CHUANJO Posted June 9, 2011 #6 Share Posted June 9, 2011 In las Ramblas you can stay at Hotel 1898, Le Meridien or Hotel Montecarlo.
quercus alba Posted June 9, 2011 #7 Share Posted June 9, 2011 We stayed in the Gothic Quarter, a short way (but still easy walk) off the Ramblas, at the Regencia Colon and Hotel Colon. Highly recommend either one--the cathedral square area is really charming!
mirandah Posted June 10, 2011 #8 Share Posted June 10, 2011 We just stayed at the Hotel 1898, and loved it. It's not cheap, though, but if it's a price point you're comfortable with, it's totally worth it. We stayed the night we got off the ship, and loved a bit of extra pampering. And just two blocks from La Boqueria, and also an easy walk into the Gothic Quarter.
Dunmore2 Posted June 10, 2011 #9 Share Posted June 10, 2011 We have been trying to book a hotel for next April in Barcelona. The rates are very high compared to what we have paid in previous years. Many don't have their rates posted for February onwards. Just curious to see if anyone else has had the same experience/frustration trying to book 11 months out. sk84fungirl Posted June 11, 2011 #10 Share Posted June 11, 2011 We stayed at the AC Diplomatic and loved every bit of it. Our port was at the end of Las Ramblas with the a bridge overpass! We were not interested in walking it. Taxi would have cost us about 10 euros with tip. But we had a private tour that day which dropped us off at the terminal. We used a taxi from the hotel to casino one and it was under $10, even with tip.
