Buying Drink at Bar and taking to room

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone can help me here - is it possible to buy a drink from one of the bars onboard and take it back to your room to consume on your balcony?

I would never take one from my rooom to a public area butI am not sure if you can do it the other way around.

I dont really want to buy one of the in room alcohol packages but would still like to enjoy a drink in my room.

Would be very grateful for some help on this.

Thanks

Yes, you can buy drinks at the bar and take them to your cabin.

There have been many times we have purchased drinks and decided to leave and head back to the cabin or grabbed one the way to enjoy while getting ready for dinner.

Yes, and you can take them from your cabin out as well. Last cruise DH purchased a bottle of Glenlivet from the in-room gift list, and went back to the room to fill his glass a couple of times per night. $80 for the bottle translated to quite a savings vs. purchasing drinks by the glass at the bars.

They are very flexible about you consuming any beverage you purchase anywhere on the ship in any other place on the ship. It is very common to take drinks back to your room, from one lounge to another, or drinks into or out of the dining room. It is also very common to have an unfinished bottle of wine either corked for the next night or sent to your stateroom to finish up later in the evening - and while I haven't done it I also think you could arrainge to have it sent to a lounge to finish.

This is good to know. I often gulp down the last half of a drink because we are leaving the bar area but now I don't have to .... hard to chug-a-lug a martini.

You can take a drink from anywhere, to anywhere....even from your cabin to a public area. We always roam about with drinks....take them into dinner, too, so you don't have to wait for a drink to be brought to you. It's not a big deal.

Can anyone tell me where I can get freshly squeezed orange juice from? It is included on my package and I quite fancy that on the balcony in the morning!

Also can you get fresh orange juice and coffee at breakfast with a package as people do tend to drink them at the same time or does the one drink at a time rule kick in?

On our last cruise we had ordered a bottle of Champagne in the MDR and by the time we had finished dinner we had only consumed half of the bottle. As we were leaving our waiter came running after us with the bottle insisting that we really must not waste it and that we should take it with us to one of the bars or to our stateroom.

We asked one of the bartenders for 2 glasses explaining that we had brought it from the MDR and enjoyed the rest of the bottle relaxing in one of the lounges.

I never had any problems with buying a drink at the bar and then taking it back to my cabin. On my last cruise I bought a bucket of beer at the bar on the pool deck and brought it back to my cabin so that my DH and I can enjoy a couple of drinks while watching us sail away from Cozumel from our balcony. It was great.

How does this work if You have purchased the alcoholic drinks package sold as i understand it "by the glass"?

Can you have a bottle of wine or bucket of beer from any bar as part of the package and then take it to the room to drink on the balcony or when getting ready...?

We have already purchased the package for both of us in the room so "no sharing"...

Thanks

Neither had I until I read the previous post...however I look forward to enjoying it over the period of our 10 day cruise.....

In looking at the posters' signature, he has sailed exclusively on Carnival to-date. I don't think you're gonna see this on Celebrity anytime soon. I could be wrong, but I surely hope not.

LOL, Conniepo! Our first X cruise was on Solstice last year, and I totally fell in love with the Martini Bar -- especially the ice-bar! First night there, we looked at our watches and realized it was time for dinner. So, DH and I took our martinis and headed for the MDR. When the maitre-d at the door politely stopped us, I thought to myself "Well, here we go -- they're not going to let us take our drinks into the dining room." Boy, was I ever wrong! A waitstaff member simply put our glasses on a tray, and escorted us to our table -- now, that's service! :D:cool:

We were on Millenium for the 15 night Panama Canal Cruise in April and they had waiters circulating with 5 beers for the price of four in buckets around the pool and aft bar. I think it was on sea days. Didn't see a ton of takers though!

You can not order a bottle of wine nor a bucket of beer with the packages. You can only order one drink at a time. You could order a beer and ask them not to open it so you could take it back to your cabin. Wine is only available by the glass with the packages.

I've never heard of or seen beer sold by the bucket on Celebrity....

We've frequently seen these offered by the pool and other outdoor bar areas, including the aft bar, on the ship. It is a buy x number of beers (4 or 5) and get one free type of price. I've seen it applied to any type of canned or bottled beer sold on the ship.

Hi Jo and Rob

You can get freshly squeezed orange juice from the non alcoholic bars in the Ocean View eating area on Lido deck. Also do a fair selection of freshly blended fruit smoothies if I remember right.

If at the same time you want to grab a non specialist coffee you will have no problem as ordinary tea and coffee is available at several self service areas in the same dining area. HTH

I've enjoyed buckets of beer on all my Celebrity cruises. It's not as Carnival-esque as it might sound. They don't push it as hard as some lines do, but it's often mentioned in the dailies as a special at the pool bar. The bucket isn't tacky-looking or anything. You buy five or six and get one free so it's a good value. I often bring one to the cabin so we could have a beer or two before dinner and later I like to sit out on the balcony and have a few beers while reading. The only downside is sharing an elevator while holding the bucket and hearing the inevitable, "Let's follow this guy for the party!"

That is the manner in which I would use/consume the beers, chilling out on the balcony watching the ocean slip by....can visualise it now:):)

It makes the package pointless if I can`t have more than one to take back to the room though, but I can understand the reasons if they think I would be sharing them with someone....

While all these posts are very true, they seem to frown on taking drinks out of the Captain's reception, Captain's Club reception, and the Elite lounge.

While our upcoming cruise will be our first time in the Elite lounge, we have almost always walked from the other events to the dining room with a glass of wine and have never had an issue with it.
