Liberty ?'s check in process, upgrades, kiosks, pool

Ok, sailing on Carnival for the first time, I have read a lot of information but wanted to clarify some things regarding the Liberty:D

1. Kiosks are new for us. So, am I right that there will not be the wall of customer service reps? You just self check at the kiosks?

2. upgrades at pier. in the past we asked the agent that checked us in or went to an upgrade line to see what is still available at check in. How is this done on Carnival?

3. What toiletries are provided? I am assuming shampoo. What about conditioner and soap?

4. Will there be water in the pool to use immediately?

5. Where is the "secret" deck on the Liberty?

Anything else I should know?

Thanks in advance!

2. upgrades at pier. in the past we asked the agent that checked us in or went to an upgrade line to see what is still available at check in. How is this done on Carnival? No pier co-ordinator. I assume you are speaking of RCL. Doesnt happen on Carnival.

3. What toiletries are provided? I am assuming shampoo. What about conditioner and soap? bar soap, shampoo and body wash. Also a bowl of samples which usually include a razor, though you cant count on what samples you get free.

5. Where is the "secret" deck on the Liberty? People just mean you can walk out from where the 4J cabins are (see deck plans) and get out on that deck. no biggie to me, no chairs to sit down.

I'm on your cruise too, and it will be my second time on the Liberty, but the kiosks weren't set up in 2007 and I don't remember the toiletry and pool situations. :p Can't help with the upgrade question; I have heard that upgrades are rarely available but it can't hurt to check!

The only "secret" deck I know about is forward on deck six (upper), near my HC cabin (unless I get bumped if someone needs it).

Sign up for the roll-call here on CC (if ya wanna) and search the boards for the Liberty and I'm sure you'll find your answers.

See you on the ship!!

1. Kiosks are new for us. So, am I right that there will not be the wall of customer service reps? You just self check at the kiosks? Yes there is a wall of CS rep's but I found that unless you insisted they wait on you, you are directed to the kisok. I didnt find them very friendly...the Kiosks are easy to use once you get the hang of it.

2. upgrades at pier. in the past we asked the agent that checked us in or went to an upgrade line to see what is still available at check in. How is this done on Carnival? Never gotten a upgrade...so no help here.

3. What toiletries are provided? I am assuming shampoo. What about conditioner and soap? Yes, shampoo, soap, razor, tooth paste, no conditoner that I can recall. There is a basket of stuff on the bathroom sink.

4. Will there be water in the pool to use immediately? Never use the pool but I think it is.

5. Where is the "secret" deck on the Liberty? I think its on Deck 6 or 7. Its all the way forward. I went out there a few times just to be by myself.

Anything else I should know? Have an awesome time!

We've been on Liberty twice and going again in the late summer. The Kiosks are very easy to use, and there are always reps around to help if you need it. You still get your S&S card from a real person.

Liberty is an awesome ship. Try to hit up Fish and Chips on deck 10 above the buffett on the first couple days of the cruise before everyone else finds it and it gets busy.

One time the pool was open on embarkation, one time not, so kinda hit or miss there. Make sure to hit the sushi up near the Casino on 5. Enjoy!
