CSBM Posted July 15, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2011 We hope to be sailing Oasis or Allure next summer. I have already begun my research:p What is the difference in these two eating venues? Thanks! CSBM
green eyed lady Posted July 15, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 15, 2011 Cafe Promenade is located inside along the royal promenade. They have things like cookies, pastries, small sandwiches, coffee. They are open 24 hours. Park Cafe is located outside in Central Park. They are open for breakfast and lunch (not sure what time they close) and they serve things like the famous roast beef sandwich, made to order salads (they are delicious), paninis, etc. for lunch and for breakfast they have a bagel station as well as breakfast sandwiches. They also always have fresh fruit cups you can get to go. They have tables both inside and outside. We love to go there for breakfast - it's so peaceful there :D
Pichu21 Posted July 15, 2011 #3 Share Posted July 15, 2011 We love the Park Cafe, more than we do the Cafe Promenade.. **hint, hint** If you want to grab some lunch when you get onboard, go to the Park Cafe, most likely it will be open. The Windjammer is packed! And because of it's location, the not many people find out about the Park Cafe, so its not as packed as Windjammer with food just as good. Just not as many choices. yogimax Posted July 15, 2011 #5 Share Posted July 15, 2011 Park Cafe?!>>>>>AMAZING!! Roast beef sandwich every day for us Ah, you beat me to it! Yes, the roast beef sandwich is the best. I also like the chips which are available in the Park Cafe. Having said that, I hope the OP checks out Cafe Promenade every day. They have some wonderful mini sanwiches and desserts. I have already begun my research:p What is the difference in these two eating venues? Thanks! CSBM Definately, Park Cafe. The Roast Beef sandwich lives up to all of the raves and then some. Also, the make your own salad line is really nice. The two make a great lunch together. Cafe promenade was good for a late night snack--good bakery items. Didn't try anything else there. I have already begun my research:p What is the difference in these two eating venues? Thanks! CSBM IMHO, Cafe Promenade is more suitable for a snack or a very, very light breakfast or lunch. Breakfast is pretty much limited to pastries/muffins, lunch is pretty much limited to little sandwiches/desserts. As others have mentioned, Park Cafe has what I would consider heartier options for both breakfast and lunch. And several things that are made-to-order. It quickly became a favorite of ours on both Oasis and Allure.
starcat Posted July 15, 2011 #8 Share Posted July 15, 2011 I thought that the roast beef sandwiches were not bad but overated. The buns they use are very salty which takes away from the overall taste. With that said I did enjoy the Park Cafe.
margeecruiser Posted July 15, 2011 #9 Share Posted July 15, 2011 I agree with Starcat, but I just scrape off the salt crystals, and the dig in!! The roast beef sandwiches are outstanding.:D
pinkrosesdeb Posted July 15, 2011 #10 Share Posted July 15, 2011 See, We LOVED the salty rolls...thought they MADE the sandwich. And, the first day we headed right to Park Cafe for lunch and they had onion soup as well. We made the BEST french dip with those two items. Can still taste it. Ready 4 the next 1 Posted July 18, 2011 #11 Share Posted July 18, 2011 I guess as always it is a matter of taste. I thought the salt on the buns really added to the sandwich as well.

Rare silentbob007 Posted July 18, 2011 #13 Share Posted July 18, 2011 The bread is a weck roll which does have salt on it ... I really enjoyed it as well.
sherilyn70 Posted July 18, 2011 #14 Share Posted July 18, 2011 I love weck rolls, but I also really enjoy a nice rock salt or sea salt. It really helps bring out the flavor in foods, especially roast beef.
hollon Posted July 18, 2011 #15 Share Posted July 18, 2011 I do not like Arby's, is park cafe roastbeef sandwichs better?
Langley Cruisers Posted July 18, 2011 #16 Share Posted July 18, 2011 Love the Café Promenade for quick snacks. The cookies are to die for!! Also, didn't like the roast beef sandwich at Central Park Café - mine had far too much gristle and it really put me off. Oh well.
Puffinater Posted July 18, 2011 #17 Share Posted July 18, 2011 I do not like Arby's, is park cafe roastbeef sandwichs better? Nothing like Arby's but I agree with others with it being over hyped. Won't eat an Arby's but will eat one from Park Cafe.
Oscar_the_Grouch's_Sis Posted July 18, 2011 #18 Share Posted July 18, 2011 I do not like Arby's, is park cafe roastbeef sandwichs better? Arby's  I am assuming Park Cafe uses REAL roast beef deli meat ... Arby's says it is roast beef - but it has been so processed that it is unrecognizable ;) (and tastes it too)

Especially with horseradish. :)
TravlGrl Posted July 18, 2011 #20 Share Posted July 18, 2011 Luv, luv, LUV Park Cafe for healthy eating options (even though I'm not a fan of Oasis). Be prepared to wait for a table during busy times, but the salad and sandwich options are outstanding! Did I say that I LUUUUV the Park Cafe? :)

debshomespun Posted July 19, 2011 #24 Share Posted July 19, 2011 I love the Cafe Promenade, and can't wait to try the Park Cafe. I've been dreaming about those famous roast beef sandwiches. This will be my first stop on the cruise, to try out a famous sandwich our first day for lunch!
FertilityDoc Posted July 19, 2011 #25 Share Posted July 19, 2011 The Park Cafe is great for breakfast if you love bagels. They had cuban sandwiches and 2 kinds of quesadillas. As everyone points out, the roast beef sandwiches are not be missed. It is less frenetic than the promenade. The prominade cafe has mundane food. The one good thing I had there was the fresh mozarella sandwiches caprese style. The mozarella was wonderful but the tomatoes like the rest of the ship were nonripened hothouse tomatoes.
