Winters in NZ Posted July 20, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2011 Sept. 25 departure. The roll-call board at HAL has the Zaandam leaving from Seattle, although when we booked this cruise it was leaving from Vancouver. Any insights ?
Krazy Kruizers Posted July 20, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2011 I don't know -- I looked at your Roll Call -- everyone mentions Vancouver as the port you will be sailing from. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1236593&page=
Winters in NZ Posted July 20, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted July 20, 2011 Krazy Kruizers..sorry about the confusion. I should have indicated that this roll call is on The HAL facebook site, not the CC site. Thanks. lka1012 Posted July 20, 2011 #4 Share Posted July 20, 2011 My guess is a typo. the HAL site shows Vancouver for both that cruise and previous one.
RuthC Posted July 20, 2011 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2011 Is this an Alaska cruise? Or is it a repositioning cruise where passengers may board in either port? It is possible that the cruise starts in Vancouver, stops in Seattle, then continues on, and HAL has the wrong starting point listed?
Krazy Kruizers Posted July 20, 2011 #6 Share Posted July 20, 2011 It is a 17 day Circle Hawaii cruise that starts in Vancouver and ends in San Diego. The first 5 days are At Sea -- no stop at Seattle.

gregdude Posted July 20, 2011 #8 Share Posted July 20, 2011 Good try Ruth, but this cruise, according to the HAL web site, is leaving from Vancouver, going to Hawaii, and returning to San Diego. Because it ends in an American port and goes to an American destination it can't start at an American Port, thus it must start in Vancouver, or visit Mexico before returning to the San Diego. Bottom line it is leaving from Vancouver.
lindalans Posted July 20, 2011 #9 Share Posted July 20, 2011 I'm on the cruise, and it departs from Vancouver. :)
RuthC Posted July 20, 2011 #10 Share Posted July 20, 2011 Oh, I understand the PVSA, Greg. What I didn't know was that it's a Hawaii cruise. I had wondered if the ship was heading Down Under. There was talk a while back that it might be there next season. I lost track of what the final deployment for next year is going to be.

Good guess...and looks like the correct guess. But I would think that HAL would have fixed that typo by now. They didn't.

ilovethecooks Posted July 20, 2011 #13 Share Posted July 20, 2011 Hi. I believe there are 5 ships sailing out of Vancouver on Sept 25/2011. We are on the Westerdam that sails from Seattle on Sept 24th to Vancouver. We then head down to San Diego and from there, its to Hawaii, Cook Islands, French Polynesia, Fanning Island, another Island (not sure of name) and then return to San Diego. Our trip was advertised as 34 days originating in Vancouver and finishing in SD. Lynda

Glad to know it's only a partial loss. ;) No Ruth, you certainly are not losing it:) The Volendam has been chartered during the Rugby World Cup, which is being held here September/October. (Big occasion for our little country). The Zaandam will continue with the usual itineraries, then do some Asian cruises before heading north for the Alaska season next year.
