Northerncheapo Posted September 4, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2011 Hello Everyone! I am curious about how SS would time the life boat drill for our upcoming cruise in May/12. We depart the Monte Carlo port at 11:00pm so I'm wondering how they manage the 'late' hour for those who may go to bed early...these things are mandatory, aren't they? Thanks, Anita
Rocchi Posted September 5, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2011 ...these things are mandatory, aren't they? Thanks, Anita Ah! The famous mandatory Silversea midnight champagne lifeboat drill sail away party. Happy cruising.
NC&KY Posted September 5, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 5, 2011 I have been on at least one cruise on Regent when the drill was delayed until the following morning.
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 6, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2011 I just wanted to mention that what is mandatory is that the drill occur within 24 hours of the sailing. Anita, I know that on other cruise lines with a late night departure we had the lifeboat drill sometime the following morning so that would be my assumption for this voyage. Rocchi Posted September 6, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2011 The drill could also happen after everyone has reboarded after the second days excursions. Still within 24 Hrs. Anita. It's a great time of year in the Med. and it's a great cruise. Your going to really enjoy it. Rocchi

Northerncheapo Posted September 7, 2011 Author #7 Share Posted September 7, 2011 So, I emailed SS and asked them directly and they said: "We are to board between 2-5 and the lifeboat drill is at 5:30". If I had never been to monte carlo before, I don't think I would be boarding that early since we are docked until 11pm..or at least I would certainly be having dinner in port.I find the whole thing strange. Anyway, thanks for the responses...now we know :)
DebbieH103 Posted September 10, 2011 #8 Share Posted September 10, 2011 They aren't that long, so you could still get back off.
