Veendam - curiosity and compliment

Due to a family medical emergency, we had to depart the Veendam yesterday (9/4) shortly after embarking. We had already met Kristine (lovely girl) in the Neptune Lounge, explored the ship, bought thermal suite passes for the week and had lunch in the dining room. We returned to our suite and started unpacking. Shortly after, received a phone call and quickly determined we needed to leave the ship immediately. Kristine, with great compassion and professionalism, assisted me with arrangements while DH re-packed. She is truly an asset and eased a stressful time. She even offered to escort us to the gangway, but I declined, telling her she had guests to greet. The process was quick and efficient and we were escorted off the ship and through the cruise terminal, right to the cab door. We were able to reach JFK by 3:00 pm because of the excellent assistance in a difficult situation. Kudos to HAL and their wonderful staff.

Now for the curiosity... after tracking Katia for over a week, I'm VERY interested in how she is affecting this particular sailing... how rough the seas, how it is and will affect ship activities and the time in port. I would appreciate news from anyone with info on this particular sailing. Thanks!

Yup, Kristine is great. She the was Neptune concierge on our 8/14 voyage, we had some serious A/C issues in our suite and she was always checking in on us and following up on the situation. I'm so sorry you had to leave and hope things worked out ok. That's a nightmare situation for anyone.

Veendam will probably hit some dirty weather but there's not much that can be done about that. Gem was able to alter itineraries because of the two up front sea days but Veendam was pretty much committed. Personally, I'd rather take the beating at sea than have to swap Bermuda for Port Canaveral and Bahamas--but that's me als testament to how nice Bermuda really is in comparison.
