travlnblueberries Posted September 25, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2011 Is it ok to keep the kit lens on the camera, or should I take it off to put the camera away? Would it do any damage keeping it on?

peacebeach Posted September 25, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 25, 2011 It's best to leave it on. Also, be careful to not get any dirt, dust or sand inside when changing or removing camera lenses. If you're facing the wind, turn your back and protect your camera, etc.

chipmaster Posted September 26, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 26, 2011 Always have my most used lense "stored" on the the camera. No reason to not leave it on, faster to shoot. As long as you store the camera and lens in a dust and humidity free enviroment without wild temperature swings and you should be good. zackiedawg Posted September 26, 2011 #6 Share Posted September 26, 2011 As everyone's mentioned, you are fine keeping one on the lens - I might consider only in the event of long-term storage taking it off, but then be sure to have a body cap on the camera. But if the camera is in semi-regular use, a lens can always be kept on it, ready to go.

travlnblueberries Posted September 27, 2011 Author #9 Share Posted September 27, 2011 Berries, I hope you've taken some photos with your new camera by now.:) I got out late Sunday night, a little later then I wanted to. I only got a few shots, nothing exciting, because there's nothing exciting around here to shoot. Monday, I wanted to go out, except I was so tired, I fell asleep. Today, Tuesday, it's raining....and it's the last thing we need here...We had major flooding in our area. I hope everything will cooperate tomorrow.
