Taxi from Newark airport to ship?

Anyone have recent prices for transportation from Newark airport to the pier in Brooklyn? Searched but the threads are from 2009. Trying to decide if we should use the Princess transfer.

Thanks for any help!

You might try a car service.

Its a set price, no meter.

We use 2 different ones in the city but they don't go into NJ. :)

We took the Princess transfers from Newark to Brooklyn and back in July/August. I believe they were in the $30/pp range each way. We were met at the Continental terminal and the bus picked us up around 12:30pm. We were at the ship in about 35-40 minutes (which I thought was really fast). They take care of the tolls and once your baggage is on the coach, you'll identify it at pierside, and then you won't see it again until it's in your stateroom. It was very easy and for us, worth it.

There was a long discussion this year about getting from Newark Airport to the Brooklyn Cruise terminal. Car service to Brooklyn is over $100. For 2 people the Princess transfers from Newark seem to be the most economical.

If you're flying in and staying in a hotel the night before, you can look at the Hampton Inn or Hilton Gardens on Staten Island. Folks have used Village Car Service to go to Brooklyn in the $75 range.

the local car services from the Brooklyn area charge about $50 plus tolls for the Newark to Brooklyn Cruise terminal run per car not per person. The tolls should be about $10(using an ezpass through the Holland Tunnel and no NJ turnpike and no brooklyn Battery Tunnel)....plus tip

try Arecibo 718 7836465

If you do decide on a cab take a bus or train into Manhattan first--

both closer and--since you are now in New York City--no backhaul

penalty.

You won't pay a "backhaul penalty" if you book anyone of several NY-based car services that carry lots of passengers between the city and EWR, rather than taking a taxi...and it will be a lot quicker and more comfortable than first taking a train or bus into Manhattan.

Heck, I was told on here a taxi from EWR to Cape Liberty would be about $50. I can't imagine what going to Brooklyn would be LOL.

Taxi fares in NJ are sky high. You can book a car service from EWR to Brooklyn for about $75 plus tolls and tip, or even a bit less.

Good advice--but note that OP asked about taxis...

I've found that many posters who are not from the NY/NJ area really don't know the difference between taxis and car services and use the word "taxi" for both. They have to be informed of the difference and gently nudged to the better choice for their situation.

FYI in NY City a taxi is a car(always painted yellow) that is authorized to pick up street hails or from a taxi line without a prearrangement(i.e calling for a cab)...a car service/limo/black car is any car that you call(or set up on line by pre-arrangement) to come get you and take you some place for a fixed fee...most of these cars are black but not always but never yellow(if they have NY plates anyway)...outside NY City and in many other places car services/taxi are interchangeable.

The one exception to this is that at the Brooklyn Cruise terminal the company operating the pier has arrangement with a limo service to pick up at the Brooklyn terminal for about TWICE or more what a local car service will charge for the same thing.

If you buy a transfer from a cruise line that is a form of prearrangement.

The back haul penalty for a NY cab/taxi taking you to EWR from within NY City(any place in the five boros of NYC)is $15. plus round trip tolls.

NY City yellow cabs/taxi are generally less expensive that their NJ counterparts for similar distances.

NY city limos-car services have much more competition and generally for short hauls charge more than yellow cabs and about the same for longer hauls...

Also in general the limos and car services have better nicer cars than the yellow cabs...
