What services could Princess add?

Working 2 Cruise

Recommended Posts

Bring back lunch in the MDR on port days.

Offer hot breakfast on the room service menu.

Most importantly.....monitor the chair hogs. The staff should be given the direction to remove articles when the time is up.

Day before new port, short briefing ( could be on TV) about local people and particularities of port. Little geography; history; politics; architecture;currency;local transportation; points of interest etc. Also, the basics language polite and practical expressions ( with correct pronunciation- sometimes reading in a travel dictionnary isn't really helpful). Expressions like : hello, please,thank you, where is the ship ;) ; where are the WC. These could also be available on a litle card that you could bring ashore. ( I made my own for the Baltic cruise, new language every day , and really appreciated having them).

Don't remember if it is on the PAtter but : sunrise and sunset times.

The port talks on the exotic cruises are very different from those on cruises to the Caribbean & Alaska. There are no Diamonds International, etc, so we actually get a talk about the port. The talks cover the history & geography of the area. How far things are from the ship. How much a taxi will cost to get there, etc.

I'm pretty happy with what we have now but if I had to pick then........

Consistant service between ships.

More important have all the Purser folks take another class in customer service.

I'm not a vegetarian, but often I prefer a good vegetarian meal. They should offer veggie items at the grill near the pool and definitaly in the MDR. I asked about Tofu once in the dining room and the head waiter made a real 'goofy' face, no way he said.

The grill has a veggie burger.

Every lunch and dinner in the MDR has vegetarian options for every course.

Just a couple of thoughts:

Improve the internet capability;

Add an up to date news program to in cabin tv (Fox, MSNBC, CNN);

Smoking areas, on deck, only in "open air" locations;

More "no smoking nights/days" in the casino;

Deck personnel and supervisors enforce/establish rules for "chair/table saving";

Have a ship's sponsored excursion in each "foreign" port that focuses on the "local cuisine, shopping" (goes to a local restaurant to taste the local foods, goes to a shopping area frequented by locals (all areas approved by ship's security and local law enforcement);

Drink card.

I would like to see a schedule of shows and MUTS for the cruise at the start of the cruise. That way I could plan ahead and have a good idea of what shows/movies will be repeated. The ship would have the right to adjust the schedule as needed. This would not have to be in paper form, but just info on the TV. You are right on with the interactive TV. They should make more use of the TV system and it would be a minor cost to the cruise line.

This is just another way of complaining about what people don't like. :rolleyes:

How about adding what you think Princess does well! I think Princess has an excellent crew, the best pizza on the sea, and an excellent selection of itineraries!:)

I would like to see the gift shops deliver your purchases to your cabin. Disney did this years ago (they may still do this) and it's really nice to be able to find something while you are out, have them take care of sending it back to your room and you don't have to run back and forth or carry it around.

Second would be to change out all the bedding to something luxurious and comfortable. They could call it the 'Sleep Like A Princess' bedding system.

Third would be to have full menus for all cabins from room service. I would love to enjoy lunch from the dining room on sea days but since we like to be around the pool I don't want to redress for lunch. I would love to enjoy more time on our balcony.

On many Princess cruises this is included as an insert in the embarkation day Patter. It may be up to the Cruise Director if this is done or not.

Add an up to date news program to in cabin tv (Fox, MSNBC, CNN);

Actually, these are on most of the recent Princess cruises I have been on plus BBC. The problem is that these cannot be considered news channels.

Fox - mostly opinion shows - some hours during the USA daytime there is news

MSNBC - very little news other than financial

CNN - mostly opinion and interview shows - some hours with news during USA daytime

BBC - Many hour long programs devoted to one topic such as farming in India. Very little news and even less that is about what is happening in the USA.

I am not sure that a true news station exists that they could gain access to. Even CNN's Headline News (now called HLN) is full of just court trials and opinion shows.

What I would rather have is the daily four-page printed news summary they used to have, even if it was just available in the library.

I agree, no opinion/speakers type stuff, just the news. And if not on the in cabin tv, maybe during certain hours on the MUTS screen. I can recall being in port, dock next to a RC ship that was showing the US national news on the big screen on deck during the day.

zahav1; last cruise, Sep/Oct 2011, the grill had a veggy sandwich and a veggie burger.

A lemonaide dispenser right next to the iced tea dispenser in the buffet. The way it is now you have to hunt down a buffet server in order to get a glass and many times they have to go off somewhere to get it.

Hot breakfast for room service - definitely!! We really enjoyed that on HAL.

I also agree they need to police the chair hogs and remove items to a table or bin. If it is not collected give it to charity.

Still, everyone in my family agrees that Princess is the best :)

Most times Princess has great wheel chair assistance for boarding, someone to look after you, as soon as you step out of a shuttle , taxi, or what ever sort of transport you’re using, right to your cabin, once in a while they slip, but people make mistakes. What would be nice, is if they had the same service, on disembarkation, in reverse, so you could book this service, for pick up, right from your cabin, instead of having to struggle, making your way to an assembly point, in a wheel chair, that is difficult to operate over carpeted decks. :confused: ;)
