I've really enjoyed your review and photos, thanks for taking the time for doing so, looks like you had a great time, beautiful couple and same goes for your brother and his wife. I've only been on 1 Carnival Cruise and was not crazy about the food, though we did have appropriately warm food at the buffet, we only ate in the main dining room twice because the menus were just boring to us. We are kinda adventurous eaters and I grew up with my older brother who is a chef so...like you said sometimes our experiences on cruises or vacations are a result of how we were raised. I also work in a customer service health care field and can't easily tolerate the abnormally rude, so while I don't spend much time in casino it would have been unsettling to have endured the "David experience".

Sadly, both weatherwise and distance from cruise terminals, up in the Northeast corner of Washington State.

 

We do 4 cruises per year also .... got #4 for this year coming up in December, to Hawaii.

 

I've just started to look for our next four and was looking at the ones out of Tampa. Dunno for sure though, since we hate to fly so we drive to ports and FL is one humdinger distance away. (Although we did it once before.)

So glad you will be finishing up your review. It was really great. Love your pictures. And your brother looks EXACTLY like a guy on the Star last March.. But he was from Canada so I guess not.

 

And I think you do have a winner with your hubby! It is alway so nice to see a great couple.

Good Review.......And to be honest I really don't see where you were being all that harsh. We try to jsst go with the Flow on a vacation but as much time and $$$ I am sure you donated to the Casino the could at least make sure they took good care of you all!!! Enjoyed your review and will try to watch for the end. Looking forward to getting on the Legend in a little over a week!!!:D

After reading hundreds of reviews in my 10 years here on CC, this is one of the most informative ones, combined with terrific pictures!

 

Thank you for sharing the good and not so good.

 

Your complaints, to me.... are little disappointments, because you KNOW Carnival is BETTER than what they delivered this cruise.

 

I had some of the same disappointments on our last cruise. Mostly little things that I knew would never be accepted or tolerated a few years back, but now are accepted.

 

I would like to give your review Five Stars... but ..sorry, I just cannot. Yankee fans automatically get a full star taken away! ;)

I have totally enjoyed your review. I don't post much, mostly because of the crap you have had to deal with. I stalk all the threads and have gotten some really good advice. Love your toes. We were on Legend a year ago. We were in the Casino EVERY night. Ok, we past through it to the sports bar. Playoffs. Sorry Yankees. :eek: We are Dodger fans so you get it. :D We just celebrated 20 yars of marriage and agree with your post...we like to be together. You are a beautiful woman with an equaly handsome man so don't let the haters detour your excellent review. I have had issues with Carnival and I handle them. If we ever cruise together I would like to buy you a cocktail...you are genuine. :)

I'm am believing in the best that they have my Casino credit there, and that in between my Conquest and Triumph cruises they will give me the perks that I think should be coming to me.

Ditto! I've been following this thread because after sailing on her twice, the Legend is my favorite ship. (after the Holiday, which is no longer with Carnival :() I have really enjoyed your review and it's brought back a lot of wonderful memories. Sorry about your casino experiences - I'm also one of those folks who spends a lot of time there, and would have been slightly cranky with Mr. Attitude as well. As a matter of fact, I've spent so much time in Carnival's casinos that workers are starting to recognize me as they (and I) sail on different ships. I had 2 different casino workers from 2 different ships I've sailed on approach me on the Legend to say hi. :eek: Can't wait to read the rest of your review! And by the way, I think you've handled yourself admirably on this thread. :)

Actually your post about the casino made me call on Wednesday to check the status of several people who are going with us. I was told by M. M. that one will need 5000 to be eligible for free drinks at the start of the next cruise. One person in our group earned 4800 last December; however the promotion was available then. Prior to one's cruise a printout can be requested through the casino promotions per M.M.

Had to say... I've been following your review for the past couple days and have enjoyed it. You've done a great job n I for one can't wait to hear the rest. Oddly enough I'm not even sure what drew me to start reading it as I'm not going on that ship ... And I don't spend time in the casino (at all)..... Idk... It was just calling me. Lol. And strangely enough through out the review I'd skip over everyone's comments n questions n just scroll to your next post. What caught my eye n had me go back n read some of these comments was when u spoke up to all the negative remarks. Bravo for u!! This I ur review... Ur experience n ur opinion....

 

I do not understand where someone gets off making rude snide remarks to things. I had this happen earler this week when I asked a question on a diffrent thread.. I asked a question.... Not to b flamed or get negative comments.

Please don't let the negative comments get you down, I know it's hard, I would probably do the same thing.... I can't think of anything that I have seen that you've written that could be taken the wrong way.

I love Yankee fans! Waiting patiently (well - maybe not so patiently) for the rest of this great review! And I also have seen "changes" on my last 2 cruises with the way things are "handled" in the casino. Maybe it's time for more "people training" for the staff!

I just want to thank everyone for the GREAT comments. After today's nonsense, it really brought me down. BUT, Brad took me out for dinner and drinks and read me all the comments and they really made me feel so good. (not to "brag" but he really is the best!). He also mentioned to me that I may have messed up on the days so I will correct that in the am. Thank you all again and sorry that I am so sensitive. I truly have a big heart and that is why I wasn't sure if I would post it to begin with. Goodnight all and I'll finish tomorrow

 

 

WOW! Whatta Guy!! Nice move, Brad:) ! And yeppers, we remember our "Brown" every year. Our oldest did a Christmas stint with UPS one year while he was in college and as dog-tired as he was at the end of the day, all those "extras" gave him a smile and a little "jiggle" in the pockets. Had a great driver to work with too.

Funny....... because I read about it before our cruise as well and I wasn't about to tell my husband either..... #1 reason he likes to cruise... the food! lol Again, one person may think something is awful while another may think it's great..... to each their own. :) I do agree w/ the comfort foods.... don't have to get them if not wanted. Now my son (11 yrs old) was very excited about the meatloaf. lol :)

 

 

We sailed on the Legend on Oct. 2. I had read several reviews saying the food was terrible, I didn't mention this to my husband because it wasn't going to keep us from going. It was the second day and he said this is the best food we've ever had on Carnival. So not everybody thinks it's horrible. We ate at the steak house one night and it was the best steak house experience I've ever had.

 

I also don't get all the flap about the comfort food, there is one item each night, you don't have to choose it. I don't like seafood but that doesn't mean I can't eat at a restaurant that has seafood on the menu.

All week long, there was a server, Carlos, in the casino that was pretty attentive to me, knew what I drank and how I liked it, watched my machine several times for potty breaks and always was very friendly. I planned on giving him something extra the last night and told him to find me before he left.

We were told that the casino would stay open until 3 or 4am so we figured we’d make one last run. Around 2am, I tried to order a drink and was told that the bar was closed. I was so surprised. No one ever came around and said last call and where was Carlos? I asked where he was and was told that he was done for the night. Are you kidding me? He never even came over to me and I really wanted to tip him. (Big lesson for me though because I will tip daily from now on)

Then one of the technicians started telling people to start cashing out because the casino was going to close in 30 minutes. Five minutes later, he came by again and told us to cash out because the casino was closing in 5 minutes! He was very rude and pretty demanding. So we decided that it was time to end the night.

No one came up to us that last night to say good-bye, thank you, you’re a PIA or anything. After this week, it really shouldn’t have surprised us though. Brad & I cashed out our cards and headed up to our cabin. I went out on the balcony and took a few pictures. You could already see the lights of Tampa in the distance. Kind of depressing but knew we would be going again soon. We finally crawled into bed around 3am.

I woke up a few hours later and went out on the balcony. We were still sailing through the Channel but almost at our destination. I took a few more pictures and then went back to bed. We got up around 7:30am, got our things together and headed up to the Lido Deck for breakfast and waited to disembark. Even though we were zone 1, we didn’t want to rush off the ship.
