welldone60 Posted November 15, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 15, 2011 The Magic is stuck in Texas overnight. They are working on one of the thrusters. Also JH mentioned that the ship was oversold......Not a good way to start a cruise on a brand new ship.
DarthGrady Posted November 15, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 15, 2011 Certainly kinks to work out, but neither sounds like a major deal. You have to go into a cruise on a brand new ship expecting a few hiccups. I'm sure most of them are still having a good time.

kwbound Posted November 15, 2011 #10 Share Posted November 15, 2011 They've revised the itinerary and cancelled Costa Maya and added an overnight in Progreso. If I were on board I would be so disappointed, after waiting all this time for the new ship, and then for it to have problems right away. And two nights in Progreso - no thanks. I guess the dock spaces were spoken for in Cozumel. Idk why else they would choose to overnight in Progreso. Although the lack of excursion options at that port will keep more people on board and increase revenue I'm sure.

Hmmm, the casino will be closed in port and more food will be eaten so I am not so sure about that.. less bottled water will be sold.. excursion refunds.. I think a lot of people will stay on board that second day and the extra liquor, spa treatments and bingo cards sold will probably make up for the extra food they have to serve at lunch. kbmeow Posted November 15, 2011 #15 Share Posted November 15, 2011 If you are going to post, please check your facts. Neither of those is true. Overbooked for crew, yes. Oversold? Not so much. " John Heald well that was interesting. We oversold the ship, something that never ever happens so it looked for the longest time that I would have to leave. But luckily there is a cabin and so I just dragged my suitcase down coridoors again and here I am playing catch up on Facebook again. So let me try that poop doenstairs one more time." From facebook. So yes per John Heald the cruise was oversold. And on the overnight in Galveston, the way the new itinerary looked it could have been misread that way. This is how it was written on Facebook. 11/14/11 Mon MAGIC GALVESTON, TX OVERNIGHT 4:00 PM 11/15/11 Tue MAGIC "FUN DAY" AT SEA At Sea At Sea 11/16/11 Wed MAGIC PROGRESO, YUCATAN, MEXICO 8:00 AM OVERNIGHT 11/17/11 Thu MAGIC PROGRESO, YUCATAN, MEXICO OVERNIGHT 4:00 PM 11/18/11 Fri MAGIC COZUMEL, MEXICO 7:00 AM 5:00 PM 11/19/11 Sat MAGIC "FUN DAY" AT SEA At Sea At Sea 11/20/11 Sun MAGIC GALVESTON, TX 8:00 AM 4:00 PM So people who asked for facts there are where the OP got there info from JH at FB. Not so much. Boy are we quick to jump all over posters here. Read JH facebook, he posted about an hour ago. He said they were not sailing tonight and he also said they were oversold.....Now that was what he posted...and being he is a top dog at Carnival...would you not think his info was correct? So before you correct me...correct yourself.

Slitelyused Posted November 15, 2011 #20 Share Posted November 15, 2011 I am so disappointed in this new disastr of a ship. We just got home from the TA crossing. Yes we sat 2 days in Freeport, and never got to visit Grand Turk. I wasnt allowed off the ship in Mallorca, shore busses could not handle wheel chairs. I was ordered back to the ship. This tub cant handle rough weather, most of our stage shows was cancelled because it wasnt safe for the dancers.,Beach pool was drained most days because the water was sloshing out of the pool and flooding the mid ship elevator shafts, and soaking the carpeting. I am in a Pronto power wheelchair. It was extremely difficult even leaving my state room for all the linen carts in the hallways. Such a hassle to move 5 or 6 carts to get to the elevators. After 2 days of fighting carts,I just stayed in my state room and watched TV. Old Discovery channel reruns. There was absolutely nothing magic about Carnival Magic at all. Worst cruise I have ever been on.
pai1762 Posted November 15, 2011 #21 Share Posted November 15, 2011 It is not that new of a ship has bin in service for about 6 mouths east of the big pond. It had the same prob on the way over to the us.
Slitelyused Posted November 15, 2011 #22 Share Posted November 15, 2011 I would like to say something nice about Carnival Magic, but regretfully I can not. Food was sub par, we only ate in the MDR 2 nights. The rest we either pizza'd or snacked from Lido market place. We unfortunately had to spend 16 days on this disaster, crossing the Atlantic with our rear thruster not working. They need this to steer the ship. They cancelled Grand Turk on us, and we spent 2 days sitting in Freeport which wasnt on our itinerary while they tried to fix the ship. It still isnt fixed, they had to overnite in Galveston instead of sailing Sunday on time. Canival needs to pull the damned thing out of service and put it into a dry dock. Fix it right instead of half assed. Sadly I just blew a little over $4,000 on a vacation from hell, and it was hell on this ship.
firefly333 Posted November 15, 2011 #23 Share Posted November 15, 2011 I was on the preview and I thought Magic was beautiful. I know Triumph we had one night with a lot of motion. Oasis complained of 3 rough days, so its no wonder the Magic too had some rough weather in the crossing to Galveston. I am so glad to get the beautiful Magic here, though the prices are a tad higher than I would like.. cant have your cake and eat it too.

susanNjay Posted November 15, 2011 #25 Share Posted November 15, 2011 Sorry to hear some of you did not enjoy your cruise...there are always some who are not satisfied...and always some who are... I am anxiously awaiting a "live from the Magic" post to see what the current passengers have to say. I have never heard all positive comments from a TA cruise...if you ask the crew members, they usually have horror stories to share. I think it is pretty much going to be rough... Have a great day! -Susan
