BosoxI Posted November 17, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2011 DW and I are thinking of taking a cruise on the Millenium. Our most recent experience with Celebrity has been on Solstice class ships and we love them. We'd get a concierge cabin on the current Millenium, that is, no update. What can we expect? I read the reviews but most people don't talk enough about the ship
helen haywood Posted November 17, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2011 I just returned from a 5 night cruise on Millennium. We've sailed Solstice, Eclipse and Equinox so I know the differences. Millennium was a beautiful ship and I saw nothing that would make me unwilling to cruise again on her. (Just wish she were doing longer cruises!) We have a 14 night on Connie booked for next year and I have no qualms about being on that class ship. Our cabin was a regular balcony so you'd have more room in a CC class. Service was wonderful and I enjoyed every moment. Is there something specific you wanted to know, or just how the ship is in general? IMHO I feel the refurb is more to add the extra venues, cabins, etc. than because the ship is in terrible shape. It is NOT in terrible shape! Denny01 Posted November 17, 2011 #3 Share Posted November 17, 2011 What Millinium has that the S-Class doesn't is what many refer to as the T-Spa pool. It is an inside warm saltwater pool with lots of water action and jets. It has steel 'lounges' on each side with bubbles coming up through them. It's our favorite pool afloat (or ashore!). We get a SR (have gone CC and loved it) forward close to the pool and zip up in the mornings to enjoy it. The S-Class has a similar indoor pool you probably saw/used, but the M-Class one is warmer and with jet action. The Millie is also well organized as are the other Celebrity ships so you don't 'feel' the crowd and has great common areas. So that is one of the major differences between them, along with being not a large. Millie is being refurbished in Apr 2012 with major upgrades, called a 'Solisization' where the M-Class ships have a number of the S-Class amenities added, such as more specialty restaurants, the Bistro on 5, and the Buffet area is going to the station approach of S-Class...at least that's what I understand. So if you cruise after Apr 2012, you'll get some of the S-Class benefits on the M-Class....we'd Love to try that out! Enjoy! Den
Rare cruisestitch Posted November 17, 2011 #4 Share Posted November 17, 2011 Staterooms on M-class ships have more storage, have a clothesline in the bathroom, but lack a nightlight. Concierge class staterooms on M-class ships are larger than the regular staterooms, while on S-class ships they are the same size.
jd1966 Posted November 17, 2011 #5 Share Posted November 17, 2011 The only issue I have with the M Class ships is the very old slot machines in the casinos. Aside from being out of date, the overwhelming majority of them still use coins instead of the tickets. (Yes, I know that some people do like to use coins) We also miss the Geleto and the Bistro on Five.
greeneg Posted November 17, 2011 #6 Share Posted November 17, 2011 IMHO, the stateroom design on the M Class is far superior to the S class in terms of storage, and general comfort. The bathroom is bigger on the S Class, but lacks a clothesline and how much time do you spend there anyway? If you are fortunate enough to snag a CC-1 aft balcony, the balcony is huge and very enjoyable. The S class aft is nothing near as nice or as big. Rare vickykay Posted November 17, 2011 #7 Share Posted November 17, 2011 We love both but the advantage of the M class is real dance venues as compared to the S class (only the night club). Enjoy!
Project_gal Posted November 18, 2011 #8 Share Posted November 18, 2011 We also miss the Geleto and the Bistro on Five. Which Millennium will have after her refit. Sue

BosoxI Posted November 18, 2011 Author #10 Share Posted November 18, 2011 Thanks to all of you for your most informative posts. We nprobably would have taken the cruise anyway, but it is comforting to know you think highly of her. Have a great Thanksgiving
MartinsCruise Posted November 18, 2011 #11 Share Posted November 18, 2011 Out of all the M ships we were on, the Millie was our favorite mostly due to the crew. We were on it earlier this year before it was updated. The specialty restaurant was exceptional.
Rare Germancruiser Posted November 19, 2011 #12 Share Posted November 19, 2011 Well I like both Solstice and Millie- Class ships. Some perks on Milli- Class ships I realld do miss- what I miss most on board Solstice Class shps is the almost total lack of a propper outdoor Prommenadedeck. The whole view is blockes with the lifeboats. Other then that I would say you can´t go wrong on either! Michael
