Do you know if that is price per person, or that price for the whole group up to that number of people? The tours on the bottom might be a great deal for a bigger group to divide up. Just let me know if you have any experience with this. Thanks!

Its per group as posted at the top the the picture.. makesure to verify the price before you get in the cab or bus tho;)

Typically no tip unless they do something special for you -- stop at a store, load/unload baggage, stop and let you out for lunch and wait for you. If it's just point A to point B, no tip required.

If you do the one of the 'tours' then a tip should be considered based on what your experience was like.

Where were the $4 fares you remember from and to? Over the past 2 years, fares from Puerta Maya (Carnival's port) have been $7 into town for up to 4 pax.

When we were in Cozumel earlier this month we walked out to the taxi stand. There was a gentlemen who was in charge of the taxis and asked where we were going. I said, "Mr. Sanchos". He said, $15 (which I knew from reading the Cozumel board) and escorted us to the next waiting taxi in line. The driver took us to Mr. Sanchos and I tipped her $3. There were 3 of us and at $15, that's 20%. I tip taxi drivers, just like I to when I take a taxi in the US.

Very efficient system they have at the port if you are looking to take a taxi. Upon return, there were taxis waiting outside Mr. Sanchos. Before I got in I asked "$15 to the port?" The driver said yes. When we got to the port I handed him $18.

Have a great time in Cozumel!

We are going to Paradise Beach soon! I knew it was less than Mr. Sanchos, but now I know for sure how much. Next question is ..... how much do you normally tip a taxi driver in Cozumel?

10-20%, same as I tip in the US. Good luck! :)

These are one way prices? Do they have large vans for 15-20 people?

These are one-way prices and yes they do have large passenger vans - but not large enough for 15-20 in one van. With that size group you'll need two cab vans. Good luck! :)

  • 2 months later...

I know this is the same price as last year when we went. But, I do have to agree with another poster to ask the driver and make sure of the price because I had read that our fare would be $10 to get to Chankanaab and the driver told us $12 when we got in. I thought maybe I was wrong because there are 2 cruise ports there and maybe we were at the "other" port that charged $12 instead.

I found out on the ride back that indeed, it was only $10 for us.:( Yes, I was had that day by the first driver. But I'll know this time around.

The last section says "Servicios con Espera". I believe this means "Services with waiting". Does this mean they will drive you to the ruins, wait for you to walk around and see them, and drive you back?

Yes. After we left the ruins our driver even stopped at a gift shop and waited for us and then dropped us off downtown instead of the port. He did not charge us any more to do this. We gave him a generous tip. :)
