Questions on recent Crown Princess sailings....

We have a big family group sailing on the Crown Princess coming up this next weekend (12/3) to the Southern Caribbean and it's our second time on this ship, though a completely new itinerary. Am wondering about a few things:

- What's been showing on MUTS lately?

- What are the current live production shows in the theater?

- Is karaoke or Princess Popstar still going? Any word on the schedule of those events, and how current the song catalog is?

- Anything noticable after the recent refurbishment?

- Any tips or good ideas regarding the Southern Caribbean itinerary (Aruba and Curaco)?

Any other good tips on what to expect with the current crew/staff or activities is welcome!

Thanks,

Andrea

Great questions! We cruise on the Crown in January and would love any information we can get.

I was on the Crown Nov 12-19. See my responses below. Enjoy your cruise - I wish I were going back on the Crown!

We have a big family group sailing on the Crown Princess coming up this next weekend (12/3) to the Southern Caribbean and it's our second time on this ship, though a completely new itinerary. Am wondering about a few things:

- What's been showing on MUTS lately? Thor, The Help, Source Code, Larry Crowne, Cowboys and Aliens, Beyonce and Killers concerts, Crazy Stupid Love, Captain America, Aurthur.

- What are the current live production shows in the theater? I heard the Cole Porter tribute was very good. Destination Anywhere was a real mix of different songs from Roxanne to Lion King to the Time Warp. Another Show was titled Motor City.

- Is karaoke or Princess Popstar still going? Any word on the schedule of those events, and how current the song catalog is? Yes it is. Qualifying nights on our cruise were Monday and Thursday. Friday is the finale. No one sang any newer songs that I heard, so not sure how current it is.

- Anything noticable after the recent refurbishment? Not Sure since this was my first time on the Crown. On the Ultimate Ship Tour, I did notice that the bridge smelled of new carpeting. :D

- Any tips or good ideas regarding the Southern Caribbean itinerary (Aruba and Curaco)? Willemstad Curacao is a cute little town. I would go snorkeling if you are into that at either island. We did horseback riding on Aruba and then walked around and shopped. Did a tour with a glass bottom boat (but you sit under water) and the distillery on Curacao, and at dinner at the blue casino. Depends on what you're into.

Any other good tips on what to expect with the current crew/staff or activities is welcome! Ron at Vines has some good bar tips, Danny in the casino is cute and always in a good mood. We enjoyed Gosia as our server in Da Vinci dining room, and Irene in Sabbatini's was really cute and bubbly.

Thanks,

Andrea

For Aruba, I would go on the Jolly Pirates ship. It is very enjoyable for all ages. Lunch is good also:) You should book this on your own where you have a large group. The website is jollypirates dot com.:) Take a look at this. Also, join the rollcall and see what others are up to:D

are they still showing the same show on consecutive nights to save money?

Bill

Yes they are, but there was so much going on each night that we couldn't do everything so I didnt mind. There were two comedians, Alfred and Seymour that were outrageous, it was SRO each time they performed. Make sure you see them!

Hopefully it is still like that on the Crown when we go.

On our Alaska cruise on the Diamond they had the main show and a comedian in another venue.

We left the show and went to see the comedian.

The next night the same show and same comedian.

Nothing else going on except casino, disco etc.

I thought the Beatles Tribute was going to be on the Crown..for Dec. 2011. The Cole Porter..maids in French Costumes...could be substituted for a Sleeping potion.

The other two..pretty good.

We were on Carnival in October..the Dream..and they did really good shows. Makes a cruise even more fun..to look forward to a lovely hour or so after dinner.

PLEASE PRINCESS. EXCHANGE CASTS AND SHOWS WITH CARNIVAL..ON A YEARLY BASIS. ALL WOULD BENEFIT.

If you are into dancing (swing, cha cha, etc.) I would definitely recommend that you spend some time in the Wheelhouse Lounge or Explorer Lounge and see the band called "ELEMENTS". The lead singer has enough energy to run the ship! We enjoyed them almost every night on our 11/12/11 cruise on the CROWN PRINCESS!

I think there was a Beatles tribute on Friday night, but I didn't go see it and don't have the Patter for Friday. But there was Beatles trivia, and one or two other Beatles themed things that day.

Also, Miguel Washington was the one comedian we saw, and we laughed until our faces hurt. He is a bit un-PC, so if you are easily offended, I would skip him.

They also had a hypnotist/comedian the first night in the theater, and I did speak with some ladies who were there and thought it was good.

Do you know if lunch was served in the dining room on the day the ship got to Curacao in the afternoon?

The Patter has DaVinci DR open for breakfast, lunch and dinner (anytime) for Curacao, probably because we docked after lunch would have started.

Just got off of the Crown yesterday. On MUTS there was Gnomeo and Juliet, Cowboys and Aliens, X-Men First Class, Captin America, and one that escapes my memory:o, but it had Tom Hanks, and Julia Roberts.

Larry Crowne perhaps?
