***Live from the Legend Athens-Mumbai***

Seabourn Traveler probably notices a lot more than most people and reports it in a very entertaining way. I think his reports are great reading. But the report is not typical of a Seabourn cruise. I was in the Veranda Thursday morning when we were approaching Phuket and was at the table next to ST. What you had was a restaurant that holds less than one-third of the passengers trying its best to feed many more. It opened at 7:30 and people were already there. The ship was scheduled to dock at 8 and tours were going out starting at 8:30. Everyone wants to eat at once and it cannot be done easily. It cannot be done on any cruise ship. The staff tries really hard to handle a difficult task. I have been on the Seabourn Legend since Mumbai and have found the passengers extremely pleasant and the crew unbelievably good. I have not had anything bad happen so far. I would not have been aware of the pot smokers had I not been reading ST’s account, although my wife did overhear some passengers discussing the smell yesterday. I am on deck 5 and have never been bothered by the young family. In fact, every time I saw them I thought they were very well behaved and told the parents so. Sure they will run around occasionally but that is what little children do. Cruises over Christmas and New Year’s attract a larger percentage of obnoxious and disruptive passengers than any others. We have seen much worse on other cruise lines over Christmas and New Year’s, including fist fights in the dining room. They are all full and lines like Seabourn have more families with young children than at other times. As ST said you cannot control people’s behavior. Obnoxious people can go on a cruise by paying the fare. You can and will run across some at anytime and anywhere. Bad things can happen on any cruise line. We were on the Queen Mary when a woman and her husband who were in the Queen’s Grille and were in their 80’s were put off the ship. She was hitting other passengers with her purse and cursing most of the staff. They were also drunk. We were on a Silversea cruise, not over Christmas that had 45 children under the age of 18 on a ship with 300 passengers that generally has no children. Several were allowed to run wild by their parents. Many passengers complained about that. And we were on other Silversea cruises that were great. You need to look at ST’s account for what it is. It is a very well written, very entertaining, and very detailed account of a long cruise. I started reading it before I left home and thought it was terrific. Entertaining accounts will tend to focus more on the bad things. If you stop and think about it most of ST’s experiences have been very good. It doesn’t make exciting news when the waiters, the maitre d’, the room stewardess, and others do a consistently good job. We have been on over 15 Seabourn cruises and also have been on about 10 other cruise lines. Do bad things happen at times? Of course. But looking at the overall picture Seabourn cruises have been the best.

Day 43: Georgetown, Malaysia (Penang) 10:00am-7:30pm

Might even go to a place that we know of near the Mall for some great reflexology massage.

Nigerian Shrimp, Breadsticks, Grandma Cake, and now REFLEXOLOGY! Is there anything else you can torment me with before your time is UP! LOL!!!:p

I am a qualified reflexologist (sharp change of direction after hotels!) and simply love this treatment and I know the very best is in the far east (apart from the NE of Scotland;)). We had wonderful reflexology in China.

So, did you get your reflexology? - how I will laugh if you didn't!!! :pLOL!;) You're going to miss me too you know! :D

Speaking of Refelexology yes I did and I walked out of that place practically like a parapleagic on all fours...this guy had the strenght of 10 men and when he was describing all of my ailments and problems I thought I was going to jump up to the ceiling that how much it hurt from him and his grabbing of my toes and disolving the "crystals"!...but didn't stop me from shopping after!...LOL

Yes fairbourne...you will be missed as well after Sunday!

I wanted to share a well kept secret with you ~have you purchased and used "Elemis Instant Refreshing Gel?" (Seabourn ships Salon/Spa) This is a magical cure for everything ~I was introduced to the Gel years ago when my wrists/ankles were swelling from the sea's saltly air ~Cookie, in the Pride Spa, explained it would solve my problem. It did! It's excellent for headaches, sore muscles, sinus problems, etc. etc. All natural ~ ex.: for headaches, simply dab and rub a small amount on the forehead, at both temples and at the back of the neck ~Voila :D You feel like "brand new!"

I always have a tube at sea and at home ~I've given tubes of the Gel to family and friends ailing from ~cancer to vericose veins ~everything in-between! It's a miracle remedy and natural therapy.

You may want to purchase a tube before you disembark ~boo hoo!

All is well here ~"down home at the ranch" ~'deer and antelope playing..... have not heard a discouraging word today!" (probably tomorrow) It rained, sleeted and snowed last weekend ~say "Yee Haw" ~ranchers/farmers have desperately needed moisture, in Texas. All of us are very thankful :D Hopefully we'll soon be seeing signs of 'lit green grass sprigs.....then in the Spring, bluebonnets!

Have a continued wonderful, exciting day on YOUR Legend Castle Yacht!

Martita B

Funny you should mention this product because I travel with it ALWAYS! I discovered it years ago on a Princess ship and have it since. It works great for headaches, muscle aches and now my hurting feet after that brutual Reflexology treatment...almost put half the tub on my feet this evening that the whole cabin smells of that uccalyptus smell!

It is so nice to hear another side to the cruise "Legend" this whole farce has just been that! As you say good news, is not news making. Pleased to hear that your version of the cruise is the "Times" not the "Sun";)

Aaaaah thanks dahling! Reflexology is supposed to be a lovely relaxing treatment, mind you you've been surrounded by some real negative energies on this trip so that's probably shown up in your feet! And some of that's our fault for enjoying your reports so much and asking you to find out more!

You'll have to treat yourself (and your long suffering travel partner ;)) to a spa day when you get home - any and no excuse needed as far as I'm concerned for a trip to the Spa! :D Or you could always come to Scotland and have a lovely treatment in the peace and quiet of my log cabin in our garden surrounded by trees with only the sounds of the birds chirping and views of the hills! It'd be a blooming expensive treatment! LOL!

Please...why don't you READ FIRST before shooting from the hip instead of chiming in at random as a suggestion moving forward if you have such an urge to collaborate on this blog until Sunday.

If you read what Skeezics wrote (who was onboard from Dec 2nd until Jan 3rd 32 days) and also thouroughly thru beavecruise postings you would see this whole blog is not a "farce" as you put it but rather they corroborate most of what I posted in the past 43 days of factual accounts that took place onboard....Oh and I read over your whole 21 posts 6 are ALL NEGATIVE and the rest well anything but informative IMO.

I can not wait either for Julia's latest.....

Here's one for 'ya......on a 'lit Sister one New Year's Eve, there were five Guests sitting at the Captain's table (in the far back corner of the dining room) After the entree',two of the ladies casually got up, strolled, (actually staggered) to the back entrance door.....after a few minutes, one of the very inebriated gals appeared at the door.Wellll....her red, strapless sequined gown had slipped down, almost to her waist! She was not wearing ANY underpinnings ~there "they" were ~~both of "them," standing at attention! She motioned and called out for a waiter to come and escort her back to the Captain's table. The 'poor waiters were too shocked and did not want to offer their arms ~one brave, sweet fellow finally walked up to her and extended his arm ~they sauntered back to the table and she sat down ~all of a sudden the Captain, looked down at his watch, said something and walked out of the dining room. Our table was quite near so we had a "birds eye" view of these "bare happenings....." Talk about a dress/bodice malfunctioning?? The next morning, the same five were seated at the Sky Bar, drinking New Year's Day champagne, just having a jolly good time ~~again! We all made lasting memories on that holiday cruise! Thank goodness we had no "pot smokers", Kids

or naked, ugly 'ole men!

Actually let me clear the air about any of the incidents that either happened on our floor or we were witnessed to or heard of DID NOT impact our cruise vacation. What it was at times spicen' up the little ol' Legend to say the least. I don't "let clowns" like the Smoking Dutch Heatens, rugs rats running around, half naked grandpa and pot smoking Jimmy Hendrix get too me. And yes, I will admit after it got very interesting after we sailed from Dubai I was more motivated to keep my ears and eyes open for you all on CC and report back which I did. If some "lone miserable wolf" on here wants to continue to say that I sensationalized or embellished any of shananigans that took place in the past 43 days then so be it....but I didn't. I just called it as it was and raw as it happened....there my 2 cents!:D

Thanks for the invite to Scotland for the wonderful treatments!;)

YOU make me laugh so hard.....:D

These five guests were actually very, unusual & interesting ~two brothers, their wives and one French gal. The group came to the Sky Bar every day around 11 am. The ladies, dressed to the "9's" ~akin to Evita Perone! Hair and makeup, perfect~ they would drink champagne, have lunch ~then disappear until 5 pm. Back to the Bar for more cocktails/champagne ~then we'd see them in the dining room for dinner ~ladies, dressed to "kill!" They kept to themselves.....really didn't socialize with the other guests very much ~I haven't seen any of them on a Seabourn ship since that memorable Christmas/NY's cruise.

Entertainment Onboard Tonight: Enroute to Singapore

6:30pm Cokctails in the Club with "Claudia & Oliver"

9:30pm After Dinner with "Claudia & Oliver" in the Club

10:00pm Musical Extravaganza Showtime in the King Olav

We are currently cruising at 14knots with strong winds up on deck...virtually very quiet night tonight for the first time in a longtime at the Sky Grill....maybe people are sick of the Nigerian Shrimp?..LOL

We have a full Sea Day tomorrow ahead of us with a full day of activities that I just saw in the Herald. Captain Pedder has invited us to the bridge for a private Bridge Tour since we have been on so long since Athens, Greece....very nice of him to do this.

Seas are fairly calm with hardly any movement being felt. I noticed again we have a lot of fishing boats out there with the full lights on (a lot of squid fishing in this part of the world).

Well going to go out now and wonder around to see what kind of trouble is brewing aboard...I have to beat Julia's 65 old naked diver and only 36 hours remaining!...stay tuned!:D

More to come from the Legend enroute towards Singapore.

Everything that Seabourntraveller has stated occurred on the Legend from Dec. 2-Jan. 3 is factual. All I did is add some clarifying information....Actually the Dutch Heathens were worse than he portrayed, but that is best left alone. As stated, loved the cruise, loved the crew, loved the ship. The moon and stars must have been in a strange configuration during the latter part of our 32 days....some of the cast and characters who found their way to the Legend will certainly be "Legendary" to those who sat back and watched the "production" unfold. Happy sailing, Seabourntraveller (next time could you leave your Dutch cohorts and dippy grandfather at home? lol).

By the way, I was on the "A Team" and" Legendary Legends" that won triva on both segments. Yea, for us. Proud owner of a tote bag and a wooden box. I went for the popcorn and cookies, the questions were secondary.

I have read a lot of these posts, gotta do something to while away the time:rolleyes: not being on a cruise at the moment. If you had known or looked up the meaning you would have seen that a farce is "a broadly humorous play based on the explotations of improbable situations". Is that not what your whole page has been about. IRMC

Seabourntraveller - - I think it's very interesting that all of a sudden there are a few who have suddenly come on and commented on your wonderful postings; some who quite clearly have read every single one and must have enjoyed reading them as they came back for more and like I say all of a sudden are now dissing them. If I am one of the people you are commenting on by this post, I dont think I "dissed" seabourntraveller in any way. I "dissed" the type of people who it is apparent sail on the Seabourn cruiseline. Yes, I certainly have read it all, I have read a lot of the luxury boards recently as we are planning on taking a cruise sometime later this year. I have also noticed who many of the long term Seabourn passengers are, and am horrified that they also think these happenings are so humerous. Its like reading the pages of a trashy womens magazine, and all the other women cant wait for more gossip and voyerism. I really would love to know what Seabourn thinks of it all. Does anyone from Seabourn actually take part in this board? I know there is at least one board where a staff member contributes. This report has lost Seabourn at least one passenger, not that, that probably worries them too much in the scheme of things. We never travel during school vacations, so children aboard is not a concern to us, but the type of other passengers is certainly a very big concern. On a small ship, even a dozen badly behaved people will effect the ship, seems there are a lot more than this on Seabourn. Must say I havent read anything like this so far on the other luxury boards, but I will keep reading. Thanks for all the warnings.
