Where did the Oasis electrician get his college degree? *and review*

Actually it's architects and interior designers who decide where things go.

What's the big deal? I haven't taken anything on a cruise yet that I had to plug in. You guys just need to wean yourselves off all the electronic gizmos and enjoy your vacation the old fashion way, gadgetless, without wires hanging out everywhere.

Tell that to the guy that needs a CPAP.

yea, ok BigG, but if you regularly travel with your cpap, don't you also bring an extension cord with you? I do like to keep my electronics to a minimum because it is a break not to have to deal with them, but I also agree you need to have your medical stuff too. I am not trying to be negative here, I just look for ways to make things easier on myself.....no matter where I am going...and I have been known to sleep in at tent in two feet of snow at 20below....

Sorry popcicle, I didn't mean to offend you. I don't need a CPAP but as someone else already commented, some people do. I do however take advantage of my iPad which occasionaly needs a charge.;)

.....being in the building trades for 30 years I make about 20% of my gross on changes that occur when the owner realizes a problem with the plans or change layouts....it's a real money maker for me...keep the screw-ups coming because more time than not it is the tradesman in the field that points out the faulty design....if they want to change it or not depends on the pocket book mostly......nothing like years of experience...;)

And I get a lot of those "experienced" tradesmen mad at me when I expect them to do it per my drawings and they do it their way the first time. So they get to do it over again on their dime.

Just last week I made an "experienced" contractor tear out and re-install 350 data network cable runs and jacks because they didn't think I really wanted CMP cable.

Architects don't like electrical outlets visible and sticking out, so I'm not surprised they put them under the desk. I fight with them all the time.

I am sorry but I am amazed that you guys are complaining about where the outlets are. Be grateful that you can afford a great vacation and stop blaming electricians or engineers for inconveniencing you. Find the plug, plug your stuff in, problem solved.....

Oh and by the way, my dh is an EE, and a master electrician in facilities maintainance, and my dd is a ME. I am proud of both of them. Neither one designs things to be difficult. So lighten up and enjoy your vacations, I know a lot of people engineers included who can't afford a day off let alone a full week at sea.....

That is all I have to say...

Maybe you should lighten up. It is a thread about the placement of electrical outlets. If it is annoying you then don't read it. Every thread around here does not have to start off with some politically correct statement like "I am so thankful that I can take a cruise but....." The fact is that the outlets are in an odd location for a first time Oasis cruiser who is use to their placement other ships.

My father is a engineer from MIT. I don't feel any need to get defensive on this thread.;)

Yeah I am serious and DON'T call me shirley!

Good grief, you gotta love general membership trying to police what other members post here and telling others to lighten up. Isn't it wonderful members can actually post what bothers them about a cruise/ship? (rhethorical question). Just because it doesn't bother you doesn't mean it doesn't bother others. It does so learn it, live it, and love it.

It was a problem so much that I learned the Allure did something to correct it. Hopefully, the Oasis will do the same.

That was the only thing the really bugged me on the Oasis of the Seas. The rest of the ship was amazing. I included the highlights in my original posts about the nice things.

Lighten up, Francis.

Amen to this.

I certainly did feel it was an odd location. I hope they do the same on the Oasis as they did on the Allure. It would be a huge benefit for many.

I watched a show on NatGeo cable a couple of weeks ago about the design and building of the Oasis. They mocked up the cabins and then all the suits walked through them and discussed this and that. However, nobody really lived in them for a night or two. Having the suits walk through a mock up of the design just reinforces that the emperor is indeed wearing clothes. Having someone actually live in it for a few days would point out the most glaring design flaws.

If NCL had done this with the Epic "wave" design for their cabins, they might have realized what a bad design their bathrooms were.
