Is it time to dump the Sports Deck?

The Sports Deck seems to take up some much space, and is such an eyesore... Is it time to re-think that space?

 

What would you rather see up there?

The Sports Deck varies by ship.

If it were possible I would like to see the Tamarind Restaurant added -- but unfortunately not even the Vista class ships can handle that extra weight.

On the R and S class ships it is the jogging track.

My three sons and their friends spend hours up on the sports deck playing basketball on sea days, and after spending a day ashore. Why would you want to get rid of them?

Love the sports deck areas- that is where the boot camp class is held in the AM!! Also typically a nice quite place to relax...

I'd like to see a miniature golf course up there. I've enjoyed that on other ships and find it a low key way to have some fun. I sure don't need a rock climbing wall! m--

Don't get rid of the Sports Deck on the Prinsendam please - that's where some of the S cabins are and the fabulous Crows Nest. I wouldn't touch it there with a ten foot pole:)

I have never sailed Hal before first time come June 2012 but

on other ships we are often on the sports deck, running , walking

playing basket ball.

Agree regarding the rock walls!! Perhaps one of those zip lines would be nice - they can attach it to the famous HAL smoke stacks and ride from there...wooohooo- :eek:

Actually, my only objection to the Sports Deck is aesthetic: the huge netting (obviously necessary!) ruins the profile of the ships. Having said that, the sports areas serve their purpose (even providing recreation space for the hard-working crew) so I vote to keep them.

I'm quite sure it was joking. What I don't understnd is why you would want to do anything with that deck. While I'm not likely to go up for game or running I think those that do should have a place. What I wouldn't like to see is more cabanas that further restricts the great unwashed :D:D from public spaces.
