Fun site! Thanks for posting. So I see the Carnival Splendor, Carnival Inspiration, Disney Wonder and Oosterdam. Are there really no more ships left on the West Coast????? This is so sad! Where is the Spirit today?

And now Disney is leaving too in December.:(

One of the interesting duties for crew is fire watch.. with welders everywhere there will be crew members whose sole job is to make sure no spark escapes. This was per the third officer's chat with us on Sapphire in December.

Watching to make sure sparks don't start a fire is one of the interesting duties? What do they consider the boring ones to be? Is someone assigned to watching paint dry?

Just answering the OP's post.

The ships not in dry dock until its in dry dock. :p

If you ask the folks at Princess they will tell you it is in dry dock. There are no more cruises and work has begun inside. That is the start of the dry dock work. Granted it isn't out of the water yet. So if you insist .........

Carnival Spirit is in drydock in San Francisco.

Is that the dry dock for the Australian Makeover?

She is due to be "Aussiefied" , before being sent to Australia later this year for permanent cruising in the Land Downunder.:D

Sapphire Princess has begun its drydock renovations!

I just found this article from Princess about Sapphire's dry dock (Posted 1/9/12) detailing the planned renovations to the Princess ship: http://www.princess.com/news/article...ticleId=na1203

It looks like there will at least be photos, if not video updates, of the transformation.

"Throughout the drydock, Princess will be featuring a daily photo highlight of the transformation on its social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and Google+. "

Princess just added their first drydock picture to Facebook (below)! To see daily updates of the renovation, go here.
