xeena Posted January 21, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2012 We are thinking of booking a DEC 2012 cruise on the Maasdam, but the deposit is stiff ($1200) hate to have that much held for so many months! We are going to be on the Noordam at the end of February and i thought there might be lower deposits or some other perks if we book while on-board. Is that true?? Very true - you don't even have to book on board if you don't want to. Just buy the FCC's (future cruise credit). They cost $100 each and can be used as your downpayment for most cruises (up to 36 days I believe, no world cruises or segments I believe). PLUS you get a bit of obc depending upon the length of your cruise and your category.
CruiserBruce Posted January 21, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2012 Just do a search for Future Cruise Deposits (FCD) or Future Cruise Credits (FCC). You will find plenty of info.
Mary Ellen Posted January 21, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 21, 2012 Since I'm not remembering the Maasdam doing any Grand Voyages, certainly not at that time of year, as long as your cruise is under 36 days (or thereabouts) the deposit when booking onboard is $100/pp. You will also receive a small amount of OBC on the future cruise for having made your deposit while onboard an earlier cruise. Big Dawg CC Posted January 21, 2012 #5 Share Posted January 21, 2012 On both our 12/11 Eurodam and 12/12 Zuiderdam sailings, in ADDITION to the OBCs from the Future Cruise Deposits, HAL offered an additional OBC for booking next year's holiday sailings while on board. In both cases, it was slightly more than (and in addition to) the OBCs for the FCDs. They also offered a free bottle of wine and 2 Pinnacle lunches. As a side note, many times AFTER you cruise, you will get a "Thanks for Sailing with Us" e-mail where they offer additional OBCs for sailing if you book within 2 months. They will apply these additional OBCs for any cruise you booked on board - you just have to call them and give them the promo code. However, whereas those additional OBCs are combinable with the OBCs from the FCDs, they are NOT combinable with the addtional holiday sailings OBCs. MainStreetMouse Posted January 21, 2012 #6 Share Posted January 21, 2012 I looked at the offer while on the Nieuw Amsterdam Holiday Cruise this past year but it didn't view it as something I needed to commit on right then. Gary .

marco Posted January 21, 2012 #8 Share Posted January 21, 2012 We've done a "Caribbean Friends and Family Annual Winter Cruise" now for over the past 30 years as well as many others cruises, all on various lines including HAL. Some folks have committed to a future cruise while on board. Don't know if it was just coincidence or what, but no one ever got a better price or better perks than those who did not book while on board. Krazy Kruizers Posted January 21, 2012 #9 Share Posted January 21, 2012 We don't get a better price when we book on board either. But it is just the idea that you only put down $100 per person and you do get some ship board credit. You don't have to select a cruise while on the ship -- you can just buy the deposits and then when you are ready to book a cruise -- tell your TA the confirmation numbers of those deposits.
