antiquitys Posted February 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2012 We were in Hell, Grand Cayman on January 26,2012. The locals all tell you to mail postcards from the post office in Hell to get the postmark. We did that but now 19 days later no one has received their postcard. Do they really mail the cards or just throw them away after bilking the tourists?
bookbabe Posted February 15, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2012 The post office there is as real as the post office in your home town. Remember that it's another country, and an island one at that. Postcards to the US or Canada can often take three weeks or longer to arrive, in my experience.
elcuchio24 Posted February 15, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2012 I sent my uncle in Washington State a postcard from Nicaragua last year, arrived 38 days after I dropped it in the mail box:)
tallyho8 Posted February 15, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 15, 2012 When you go to Hell, don't expect all the speed and conveniences that you have in America. :D
Rare JustinPlusLauren Posted February 15, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2012 We went on a cruise for two weeks and the postcards that we mailed to ourselves and to my father-in-law all arrived before we got home! I'm sure they will arrive in time, it is not a sham, don't worry!
dgaston Posted February 16, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 16, 2012 Last March I mailed a post card to my son from the Vatican, and it still hasn't arrived! It's not just islands!

Rare crewsweeper Posted February 16, 2012 #8 Share Posted February 16, 2012 While it's not "Scenic", nor I think indeeded to be, on a hot humid summer day it'll come as close to the "real thing" as you'll ever want to be. Postcards from Hell are a hit with families and friends (and your local pastor/priest:p).
HppyCamper Posted February 16, 2012 #9 Share Posted February 16, 2012 When you go to Hell, don't expect all the speed and conveniences that you have in America. :D That started my morning out with a good laugh. So many people have told me to go to Hell that I will have to visit so I won't disappoint them. :D

FRMPEI Posted February 17, 2012 #13 Share Posted February 17, 2012 We were at hell March 2011 and let me tell you about the little gift shop next/close to the post office. The Women that ran the that gift shop were the nicest people we ever ran into at any port. Extremely helpful! Our son wanted a Cayman dollar so she GAVE him one. They were very genuine. The Postmaster - typical goverment employee - Rude couldn't care less that thousands of tourist arrive on her island every week to spend their money. "No picture taking inside the Post Office" - Without a please. What a biatch. What a completely different experience only about 50 ft apart. We are back at the Cayman's again this year and plan to Hit Hell again to to visit those very nice ladies at the gift shop. Billzilla66 Posted February 22, 2012 #15 Share Posted February 22, 2012 I worry a little about the post card taking such a long time. I don't mean to be too morbid, but what if something happens too you before they come. After the funeral services, your family gets a postcard from you saying something like "Hi, I'm in Hell. Wish you were here!":eek::D

Wish you were here!":eek::D Now that is hilarious! For me, the visit to Hell was a must do and I may even go back this year and have them stamp my real passport for the fun of it. LOL Back to OP, I mailed about 20 postcards (yes, I was a first time cruiser!) from Hell to IL and it took about two months for them to arrive. Putterdude Posted February 25, 2012 #17 Share Posted February 25, 2012 Hell is what it is.;) We mailed some letters and cards from Hell last year and they all arrived, however the postage we bought aboard the ship was not adequate and the postmistress of Hell noticed it and sold us the extra we needed.... yes it is a real government post office. Nanner Posted February 27, 2012 #19 Share Posted February 27, 2012 If you want to collect Hell postmarks, by all means come to Hell, Michigan. It really does freeze over (just not this year).

pampaul Posted March 19, 2012 #25 Share Posted March 19, 2012 We plan on going when we're there in June. Just wondering how much does a Tshirt cost? What about postage? And I usually pick up a magnet from places that we visit. Will I find one in Hell?
