Are roundtrips from US ports that include Quebec City not popular?

Hello!

I've been researching Canada cruises which include Quebec City, and one of the most reasonable ways of doing so is to take a longer round trip from a US port (airfare is considerably less).

Two of the itineraries that I've seen in the past (MSC Poesia and Norwegian Gem) that sail roundtrip from NYC will no longer be offered (Gem will do it in 2012 but not in 2013, and MSC has decided to abandon the Canada/New England market).

For those of you more familiar with these cruises, is this a trend reflecting lack of interest in this type of itinerary, or is it something else?

Thanks!

We sail Boston to Montreal to Boston every summer. HAL does seven days, Maasdam, leaving on Saturdays and stops at Bar Harbor, Sydney, Halifax, Charlottetown, Quebec City and Montreal. We stay aboard for the b-to-b and sail back to Boston. It's a fabulous itinerary and one of the best short cruises IMO

Maasdam can fit under the bridges so can sail to Montreal. Most of the ships are too high.

Eurodam sails from NYC, ten days ending in Quebec City. Also a good itinerary but we like the 7 day Maasdam better.

In fall 2013 the NCL Dawn will be doing round trips from Boston to Quebec City. We're booked on one. You can also do one ways. Of the 14 days on our RT, only two are sea days, and only one port, Halifax, is repeated.

We booked the 14 day NCL Dawn cruise just before the one you booked for the same reasons. Few at sea days and plenty of ports to see. We hope for slightly warmer weather leaving on 9/13 from Boston.

I looked at that itinerary, and indeed, it looks wonderful. However, 14 days may be a bit too long (I may not be able to get two weeks off), but 10 days may work.

I'll keep researching! :)
