Pop card/mug

Recommended Posts

Great, thanks for the input! That is the same one I have from before so will work out great!

What will work out great? When you buy the soda card, they give you a new cup. They will check your sea pass card for a soda sticker and give you a soda or will refill your cup.

Wow, are you thinking that because the cup is the same they won't question if you have the sticker or not? You must have the seapass with the sticker (or imprint) on it.

BTW, the cup I got in early December is completely different than that one, so I wouldn't count on it being the same when you sail:mad:

While I question the need to bring extra cups, I disagree about the sticker. The only time anyone ever checked it was when we wanted a coke in the dining room or other onboard restaurant. That is one reason they change the cups so often.

I do hope the OP's intentions are honest. But also remember that the new cups have the computer chip in them. If you use the auto serve machines, once you fill a cup, it has a five minute lockout feature to prevent someone filling multiple cups. I have had that happen to me as I was really thirsty coming back from a shore excursion. Filled the cup, drank about half of it right there and then tried to fill it again and couldn't. From what I have heard, it also has an expiration date. I enjoy the soda package as I am not much of an alcohol drinker and do hope those looking for ways around the system don't mess it up for everyone else.

I also hope the OP's intentions are honest. I am cruising in October and I will bring my cups from a previous cruise. However, I will also buy the soda package for everyone in my party. I will only bring the extra cups to have in the room in case we need them. Since we are cruising with 2 teen/tween boys, I found the soda package to be a great deal and will gladly pay for it again to receive the benefit as well as a second set of cups!

Does anyone have a picture of the auto soda serve station ? Also can you use your seapass card to get a soda, or do you need the mug they give when you purchase the soda package. This ? Is for auto serve .

Not all ships have the cups with the chips and the self service machines, I wish they did.

Here's what the machine looked like on the Majesty of the Seas last year.

Note that you do need to use the mug they give you. The soda machine activates with the presence of the RFID chip that's in the mug. It's encoded with a validity period so that the cup generally only works during your cruise.

I don't know what other ships have this, though.

That is really neat.

AFAIK, it is only Majesty and Freedom. I don't see it spreading much further because you can't use the machine without the mug and lots of people don't cart it around with them (mine came home from the last trip still in the plastic wrapper:p). Bet that cause a ton of whining and moaning:D
