Smoking question

Wow Esty!!!! It's quite clear that you are NOT a smoker by your comments. And that is fine. But there will ALWAYS be smokers and they are still entitled to their rights. This is one of the reasons we booked a balcony on our upcoming cruise. If you know where the smoking areas are on a ship, and it sounds like you do, and you cannot STAND the smell, then avoid them. Enough said.

I clearly said the best ways to avoid the stench of smokers.

Book an inside or an oceanview or a spa cabin of any sort...and/or book on a Fantasy class ship

You are entiltled to your "rights" but they are quickly declining...last year at this time you had a lot more places to smoke on a Carnival ship and I Predicted over and over that would change...and thank heavens it did

Now I also "predict" that in not too distant future you won't even be able to smoke on the balcony

if you read my post I said right at the start that :The sad fact is that many of these smokers are paying for the balcony and under the current rules they are allowed to smoke there and they probably will. I know I can smell it and it does bother me. I don't pretend to be :allergic: ...I just don't like the nasty smell

Jesus Joseph and Mary and for the love of God, go on a non smoking cruise! They are out there. Seek and you shall find. In the mean time...smoking cigarettes is not illegal. Just sayin.

No it is not illegal but it is becoming more socially unacceptable

I am happy to cruise on Carnival....no need for a "non smoking cruise"

Carnival has smartly gotten the smokers out of the Piano bar....no more cigar bar waste of space....they have only a few places left for you to indulge.

Maybe YOU should seek a Costa or Pullmanter ship where you can puff away? I am looking forward to the Glory in November....no more smokers on the lido! Yay!

I did seek a puffing ship, and I found it on Carnival! Yay Carnival!

LOL>> just think, last year this time you could have smoked in the cabin, piano bar, all over the casino, in the cigar bar...no more

most of the fleet is getting the 2.0 upgrades so one by one no more smoke on the lidos...Yay

now on Pullmanter you could puff in the dining room (gag me)

they let you smoke all over the ship

Costa has smoking most everywhere except in the dining areas

(one side smoking, one side non in the bars)

Oh I think some Asian ships allow smoking in most places....you could look into them too??

Why would she have to seek out an ASIAN ship, when she can still smoke on Carnival? What am I missing here?

Carnival still does allow smoking in certain parts of the ship, including the balconies.:D No need to go to ASIA.

That's probably because your DH is used to the smell of cigarettes since he has to smell it on your clothes, your breath, your body, and your surroundings on a daily basis. His nose is probably numb to the smell of cigarettes by now...

It's like people that dont wear deodorant or wear too much perfume: They are the only ones that can't tell how much they stink.

Wish we had a like button!

I think Tapi is right...they get "used" it it, their noses get numb or something??

Why would I have to seek out a NON smoking ship?? Carnival is limiting the places where smokers can smoke...and my guess is will continue to limit the places and increase the non smoking area

in case you missed it...we really had a good victory when they got rid of the huge cigar bars and made the piano bar NON smoking

Now 2.0 means NO smoking on the lido deck

Serenity areas....NON smoking...best part of the ship

Of course on "here" all the smokers are "courteous">> but on the ships I have seen people light up in the Serenity area, and smoke in the non smoking side of the Lido, smoke at the aft non smoking pool, etc.

Now Darling, why would I do that when I can book a cruise on Carnival sailing from Baltimore which is only 90 minutes from my home?

Carnival allows smoking on the balcony's regardless of the side of the ship. We were not aware of this and were completely smoked out, unable to use out balcony at all due to our neighbors smoking 24/7. When we complained to Guest Services, they apologized and said nothing they could do. In addition, the casino smoke was so overwhelming we could not use the 5th floor of the ship and the 4th and 6th floor stairwells smelled like dirty ashtrays. We just got back from the Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Dream and would NEVER recommend Carnival. In addition, there was a major health issue that transpired and a staff person was notified who did absolutely nothing to address the issue. VERY DISAPPOINTING

Carnival allows smoking on the balconies and you would have known this if you would have done a little research, so there is on one to blame but yourself.

I just don't buy into all that the 4th, 5th and 6th floors smelled like dirty ashtrays with all the smoking bans on the ships now. Sorry just not buying it.

This battle always amazes me. It is the same people who complain every time. It doesn't matter whether the post starts out pro or con smoking.

To the OP, sorry about the bad vibes. I understand your problem, and am not offended by your question. I am however offended by those who wish to degrade all smokers as smelly stinky people.

But it's true. I don't think smokers have a clue as to how bad they and their surroundings smell. For sure, smokers are in denial about it.

What RIGHTS??? There are no smokers rights. Every jurisdiction with a brain is preventing normal non addict folks from having their quality of life diminished by others who could smoke there lungs out anywhere they want, as long as it is not in my face. THAT is the issue. Don't do it in my presence and I will not spray skunk smell on you.

Just wanting to find out about smoking on balconies.... From what I read on the new smoking rules is that people can smoke on their own balcony, now does this mean that it doesn't matter what side of the ship you are on anymore?? Or is it still only on one side of the ship.

I'm worried cause we don't smoke, and got a balcony room in order to enjoy it. Just wondering if we will be smoked out of sitting on our balcony.

BTW I'm not trying to get smokers all mad or anything, the rules say they can smoke on their balcony, just wanting to know if that means one side of the ship or both.

Thanks in advance!

Non smokers have the "rule" of the ship. So smoke where you can. Our money is the same color green as theirs!

Wow first post just to tell us about the smoke 24/7?? I do believe even smokers have to sleep at some point. Your neighbors must have gone out in shifts just to annoy you and completely smoke you out! Was this your first cruise too?

Some people are just so full of themselves and S@@@

By rights, I am stating that there are still DESIGNATED smoking areas on the ship. Do your research and AVOID them if you don't like it. And sweetie, keep your skunk spray, I prefer Clinique Happy!!!!:D:D

You are what we call a "flamer". You don't have to live with her so why do you have to submit your nasty comments? If you don't smoke, which I'm assuming you don't, keep your opinions to yourself. There is NOTHING positive about your post. Hence, " GROW UP ":D

I don't think Tapi is what you would consider a " flamer" and is stating facts. smoking numbs the sense of smell and when exposed to it daily, you no longer notice it.

Have to agree. Someone walks up behing me in line at the grocery store, and I can immediately tell they are a smoker because they reek. Not a critism, just a statement of fact. Smoke permeates clothing and it is not a pleasant smell.

I book a balcony cabin just so that I can smoke without having to get dressed in the morning, I want to be able to go out on my balcony when I wake up and have a cigarette. I will be smoking on my cruise in December too

Designated smoking areas on the ship is a decision based on profit, not rights. But really if you think you can smoke on me, freely without derision, why can not I emanate an equally annoying scent toward you?
