Yes you can use your minutes for your I-Pad in your cabin. I've always had not the best internet conneection using my 1st Gen I-Pad. I constantly loose the signal and connecting can be an issue (at times) in the cabin. About the only place I've had fairly reliable a connection was when I would be sitting right outside the internet cafe. My problems are fixed however because I reccently bought a new Dell Ultrabook. If I bring my I-Pad it will be just for movies, music, and I-Books.....:):):)

Refresh my memory, my last Princess cruise was 2009 I think -- do I have to go and sign up at the Internet Cafe for the free Platinum minutes? And I assume I can use my phone for wifi with those minutes at no extra charge? Thanks!
