dmk Posted March 13, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2012 We will be arriving in Aruba on March 27th. Could someone tell me if the ship time will match Aruba time?
cb at sea Posted March 13, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2012 It may or may not....and it really won't matter....if you're booking a private excursion, you'll go by ship's time...no matter what time the island says it is! And, your guide understands how this stuff works...so don't give the time a thought. If the ship docks at 8am, and you book something at 9am, you show up at 9am, SHIP'S TIME! dmk Posted March 13, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted March 13, 2012 :)Thanks for your help! I will be meeting a friend staying at one of the Marriotts. I wanted to make sure that I have the correct time to tell her.
Hatteras51 Posted March 13, 2012 #5 Share Posted March 13, 2012 Actually, Aruba is now the same time as daylight savings time. So, if you are leaving from Fla. you should be on the same time:)
leighuf Posted February 6, 2013 #6 Share Posted February 6, 2013 Bumping this up... Because I'm confused. We will sail in July on the Jewel of the Seas from san juan. Booked a private tour. They said they work only with island time not ship time. I was suddenly confused as I have never had a guided say this. Tour starts at 9:30am. Guess I'll go by my cell phone time? But if the ship is in port from 8:00am - 11pm... Does that mean local time or ship time? So 9:30 island time is really 8:30 ship time?
Rare LHT28 Posted February 6, 2013 #7 Share Posted February 6, 2013 So 9:30 island time is really 8:30 ship time? To make it more confusing some ships stay on Florida time but most will change to the port time . They will let you know when the time is changed in the daily newsletter
Arubalisa Posted February 6, 2013 #8 Share Posted February 6, 2013 Aruba is on ATLANTIC Standard Time East coast USA, New York City, is on Eastern Standard Time 12 Noon in Aruba is 11 am in New York City Aruba does not use Daylight Savings Time When the US switches to Daylight Savings Time 12 Noon in Aruba is 12 Noon in New York City As others have said, most ships stay on the time LOCAL to the ISLAND where you are visiting. This is so that life, and your vacation, are NOT as confusing  as this thread  is and everyone is on the same time ;) :)
leighuf Posted February 7, 2013 #9 Share Posted February 7, 2013 Hmmm, ok. I will be diligent and take note when I get on board.
Arubalisa Posted February 7, 2013 #10 Share Posted February 7, 2013 Your bed will be turned down each evening while you are at dinner. If there is going to be a time change, it will noted in the daily bulletin (for the following day) which will be left on the bed. The dining room staff usually gave us a reminder at dinner as well.
