ctcontrol Posted April 9, 2015 #126 Share Posted April 9, 2015 Joff Eaton by a mile. Always entertaining with a dry British sense of humour. Always visible and will always stand a chat to you if you see him about. He makes 70's night and Rock Britannia awesome and will always come down after with his staff for photos with them all dressed up :D I have an excellent picture of a photo bomb him and his staff did on our cruise last year actually :D Melissa
sg1phileshipper Posted April 9, 2015 #127 Share Posted April 9, 2015 Kirk Detweiler. He made me laugh more than once, was my first CD and the only one who's name I remember. Cindy
bogofman Posted April 9, 2015 #128 Share Posted April 9, 2015 Across all the lines and different ships we have been on in the last 11 years, there is only one cruise directors name I know (remember) Joff Eaton He appears to be involved in everything that is going on, where others (not all) cruise directors have been less front of house and looked more awkward, where he is a natural. I like his early evening, radio show (over the TV) The morning shows are hilarious and the connect he has with his staff is very good. The quiz show presenting, jokes, singing and dancing are all very good, he could have been an entertainer on TV, I've seen people with a lot less ability do well on TV here in the UK
Melkaracam Posted April 9, 2015 #129 Share Posted April 9, 2015 Lucky to have Gordon Whatman for two of my cruises! Wonderful entertainer and singer. Never had another CD as good as him! He is semi retired but seems to do releif CD now and then. Currently on Mariner:D
Sherri914 Posted April 9, 2015 #130 Share Posted April 9, 2015 OMG - hands down for me it's Mike S! Absolutely. Another vote for the great Mike S. He was everywhere, all the time, and always had a smile on his face and something nice (and usually funny) to say. What a great cruise director. He set the bar high. cruiselife4me Posted April 9, 2015 #133 Share Posted April 9, 2015 James Andrews was my favorite. I liked how down to earth he was, he engaged everyone around him and he was always seen around the ship. Had the chance to chat with him one night in the Chamber on Explorer and he was an all around sweetheart.
kevinyork Posted August 19, 2015 #134 Share Posted August 19, 2015 Clo O'Connor - no other CD (and I've seen many) even close. Clo is wonderful. Warm and friendly. Like youve made an instant friend. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Norwich Cruiser Posted August 19, 2015 #135 Share Posted August 19, 2015 From the old days Mike Szwajkowski (now a Canadian Mountie) Just kept the whole cruise going see him doing Fountains on you tube wish he was still sailing. Nowadays Graham Seymour (Do not miss his morning show on your tv) Both are different class

Paulette3028 Posted August 19, 2015 #137 Share Posted August 19, 2015 (edited) Mitch Merucci, is so 'friendly, personable and entertaining'. He may not be the best singer or comedian of them all, but gets the staff to make nice entertainment occur. He may not have the 'flash' that some display, but he has enough of it for his style. Good host for activities and games....just good. Edited August 19, 2015 by Paulette3028

chawkjewel Posted August 19, 2015 #140 Share Posted August 19, 2015 Graham Seymour will always hold a special place in our hearts. Even though he was on a different cruise line at the time, he was the cruise director on our honeymoon. Hope we have the opportunity to cruise with him in the future. ckfred Posted August 19, 2015 #141 Share Posted August 19, 2015 We had Bobby Brown on the Rhapsody in July of 2011. He had a great sense of humor, and he was hysterical doing the cake demonstration (think I Love Lucy at the chocolate factory). Dennis Charles is also very good. He often sang with whichever band was playing in the Centrum. We just got off the Brilliance last week and were impressed with Steve Davis. He teaches passengers the choreography from the Michael Jackson "Thriller" video and puts on a performance in the Centrum on the last night. I bet there were 500 people watching, between Decks 4 and 9.
ryano Posted August 19, 2015 #142 Share Posted August 19, 2015 (edited) I tried to go back and see if I had replied to this thread. I dont believe I have. My favorite so far was Graham Seymour with Drew Devine as a close second. Graham is just awesome, very approachable, talented and his Quest and Rock Britannia are just great. We had Drew Devine on Monarch. He actually went out of his way to talk to me to ask me how i liked the ship and how I thought its accessibility was. Plus, he had a knack for keeping things hopping on such short cruises. And he is a very talented drummer. I use to play drums as well before I lost use of my legs Edited August 19, 2015 by ryano
Desert Cruizers Posted August 19, 2015 #143 Share Posted August 19, 2015 We really enjoyed Ken Jones during our NZ & Transpacific in 2014, he was always around and very personable.
emdia43 Posted August 19, 2015 #144 Share Posted August 19, 2015 Rico duBreil .......mmmmm, scrumptious! Richard Spacey, for all round performance. He worked VERY hard to make it a party from the moment you step onboard. He is VERY funny:D
RocketMan275 Posted August 20, 2015 #145 Share Posted August 20, 2015 What does a cruise director do and why should I care? Seriously, I've been on three cruises and I have no idea who the cruise director was on any of them. Did I miss something?

Hoopster95 Posted August 20, 2015 #148 Share Posted August 20, 2015 I tried to go back and see if I had replied to this thread. I dont believe I have. Yea, me neither.... For me hands down Mike Szwajkowski miles and miles ahead of anyone before and since... the only CD I've ever seen get a standing O in the theatre on the final night when showing the farewell video when his face came up. Loved they way he parted his eyebrows, signature move. Can't say enough good about the guy... he owned Voyager!:p Graham Seymour would be the only other that could at least stand close to Mike imho. Both these guys really set the bar high early in my cruising experiences, so I guess I was spoiled early on. No one else has quite matched up yet with either of the two guys above. Honorable mention to Anna & Rico (I believe both are no longer with the company... I think Rico is with NCL according to the ongoing CD thread)
BARNET Posted August 20, 2015 #149 Share Posted August 20, 2015 (edited) I'll throw my hat in the ring James Andrews shame he left, Richard Spacey, Steve Davis, Luke Areowsmith all very good CD,Marc 'Bing Bong' Walker was a first CD many year ago he will also be a loss to Royal when he leaves next year. Someone I think would also be very good is Frankie Portera. Have to say found Drew Devine to be a bit dull. cb140 Posted August 20, 2015 #150 Share Posted August 20, 2015 Richard Spacey, Graham Seymour and Clo O'Connor. The kind I can't stand are the cheesy, "1950's American game show host" type. Ken Rush, I'm looking at you....
