Pokeraddict Posted March 26, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2012 I didn't realize that the difference in cost for an aft balcony to an aft penthouse worked out to less than $4 a day PP when you factor in OBC $500. I drink more than that in cappuccino from the specialty coffee bar.
Pikaia Posted March 26, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 26, 2012 Yep, the AMEX promo prompted our first suite booking for May. We even applied for an AMEX card especially to take advantage of it: instant approval online, got the card in the mail ten days later, and booked that same day. It didn't hurt that the lowest suite fare on our preferred sailing date was only $100 more than the mini-suite fare for the 1st & 2nd passengers. :)

Pikaia Posted March 26, 2012 #7 Share Posted March 26, 2012 Yes, it's still valid, until the end of the month. The regular payment schedule applies: deposit, then final payment 75 or 90 days out, depending on suite category. The entire booking must be charged to your AMEX (any credit or charge card), though you can use a FCC for the deposit if you wish. You can book through NCL or with a travel agent. Be sure the promo code is used when booking. If it was successfully applied, the $500 OBC will immediately appear in your booking on NCL.com. http://www2.ncl.com/freestyle-cruise/amx-promo

SeaHunt Posted March 26, 2012 #9 Share Posted March 26, 2012 We booked the Epic with this promo for next January. Suite deposit was $1500 paid with AMEX, then final will have to be paid with AMEX. $500 OBC does show on reservation as jplain stated above. Great promo but somehow when booking I missed that you cannot use it for the DSC, so I'll pass that FYI along to you so no surprises. Just in case you read with "excited-to-get-this-great-credit" eyes and miss it too :D (re DSC in bold): Reservation MUST be paid IN FULL with any American Express Credit or Charge Card. Fulfillment of the offer is the sole responsibility of the participating American Express merchant. Offer valid for all accommodations in The Haven and general suite accommodations. Mini-suite category excluded. Offer is valid for new bookings and cannot be held as group block. Qualifying new individual reservations can be moved into existing group. Offer is valid on 2012-2014 sailings for a minimum of six days. Onboard credit offer is per stateroom, in U.S. Dollars, is not convertible to cash, is non-transferable and may not be used toward onboard service charges. Offer may be combinable with other promotions and is subject to change or cancellation at any time at Norwegian's discretion. Government taxes and fees and onboard service charges are additional. IMPORTANT NOTICE: Norwegian reserves the right to charge a fuel supplement without prior notice. Offers are based on availability, are capacity controlled and apply to select sailings. Other restrictions may apply. Promotion valid in United States, Canada, and select international markets. No problems, we'll still spend it all LOL. Oh, and another FYI, even though it states offer may be combinable so far I haven't been able to combine it with any other promo that has come out....and believe me, I've been on the phone with my PCC checking each and every one I see ;)

This was notwithstanding what NCL told me: the AmEx OBC cannot be combined with any other offer.
js Posted March 26, 2012 #11 Share Posted March 26, 2012 Thanks for the information but it's not a "no brainer" for me. We are booked on the July 2013 Breakway in a BA. I looked to see what the cost differene was to the least expensive Haven and it was almost $3,000 difference so I'll be staying in the BA LOL Thanks though. We are booked in an aft penthouse, while it doesn't have the separate b/room well make good use of the extra space plus we don't plan on getting off the ship maybe once or twice in 14 days as we've done all these ports except Jamaica which we are not interested in. In the past we've passed on these offers as well as upgrade offers just because it usually is way more bucks. And as I said earlier we a cappuccino holics so well make good use of the coffee machine all day.

Yes, I just avoided that disappointment by finding out it's not good on the Breakaway but now it really stinks knowing it is for a suite, not just the Haven :( Oh well. LaCal Posted March 27, 2012 #18 Share Posted March 27, 2012 Has anyone had any luck getting the Amex Promo through CAS? No I tried calling CAS before making our Final Payment as We had already planned on paying the balance off with AMEX....They said Nope Sorry you cant apply the $500 OBC because of the deal they already gave us.... They were Nice enough though to try and figure it out....If We canceled our booking with CAS...Made a New one with the $500 AMEX OBC it ended up that We would still be paying almost $500 more than the deal they originally gave us... But We still do have $250.00 OBC that was allowed during the original CAS booking...

Sadly, I've had 3 suites since the offer started, all paid with Amex and none qualified for the OBC. 2 were through CAS and the other was booked before the offer started, missed the final payment date by one day! peg013 Posted March 27, 2012 #22 Share Posted March 27, 2012 Is this what you would get when you moved up a level but isn't this discontinued with the new Lattitudes program?:( No it was not discontinued and as often as it is discussed on here, it is amazing how many people still believe it was discontinued. (Not busting on you) The part that is highlighted in REDwas highlighted by me for ease in locating the primary change. I copied the Quote from here: http://www2.ncl.com/latitudes-rewards/terms-and-conditions "Program Tier Graduation Onboard Credit Offer Based on the membership tier of a guest in the Program, guests may be eligible to receive a Norwegian thank you note post-sailing with an onboard cruise credit. The amount of the onboard credit offer will be awarded per stateroom, in United Stated dollars, based on cruise length and Program membership level tier. Any remaining onboard credit balance at the end of sailing shall expire. This offer may be redeemed by individuals, participants in qualified in group bookings, by single guests and for use with 3rd and 4th bookings.
