Going on my first cruise .. Royal Caribbean > Explorer of the Seas.

Anyone ever win a decent amount at the tables? What games do they usually have apart from 3 card poke, black jack, and caribbean poker?

Hubby won a bit on BJ on our first cruise ($650 or so)....and since then...nothing to speak of. Now, he plays Craps...RCI tables have no "odds"...and his last experience was horrendous...the "stickman" kept changing the dice in the middle of hubby's roll...not kosher at all! We now reserve most of our gambling for Vegas. That's the place to play.

Two years ago on Serenade I hit about $600 on three card poker. I was down to my last $25 and played 15 on the pair bonus and played blind. I hit a straight flush. The good thing was it was the last night so I did not have time to give it back.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO mantra: That depends on what you call winning a decent amount. They also have craps, roulette, and Pai Gow.

Personally, I think craps is the best game to play in the casino because it is the only game in the casino that pays true odds on some bets. Just learn which ones they are and play them. Then there are other bets that are almost as good. Learn those too and they are okay to bet also. Stay away from bets that give The House a big edge.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO cb at sea: What do you mean the tables on RCCL has "'no odds"'? They have to have odds behind the Pass Line. Otherwise no one would play, at least not using Pass Line bets except for maybe the table minimum. Now I do know from my cruise on RCCL that they have single odds. That is odds equal to the Pass Line bet. This is kosher. The odds portion of the bet still pays at true odds. This is one of the best bets you can make in the casino.

What do you mean that the stickman kept changing the dice during your husband's roll? Did he take out the dice in the bowl when the dice went off the table giving your husband a choice of the five dice again? or did the stickman change dice when the dice got back to the stickman when at least one die did not leave the table? If the dice leave the table all your husband has to do is yell out, "same dice." Then the stickman will give the same dice back unless something happened to the die that left the table ie it got cracked or a corner came of the dice.

Happy cruising and playing in the casinos on future cruises.

I was on the Miracle on the New Years Eve cruise which i was looking forward to with great expectations and i was going to post back with my report But NOT having the winning cruise i hoped for i never posted bout it.. Well, my cruise was not what i had hoped for. There was only two sessions when i came out with a deecent stack of cash. BUT, when i was off on other duties with the dw, i came back to the casino at the end of the most fantastic roll i have ever seen on a ship. One player cashed out a little over ten thousand dollars while the other players cashed multiple amounts ranging into the thousands.Just was not at the right place at the right time. Oh well. I did hit four aces with a 2,3,or 4 on the video slots twice. Once on the ship and once in Aruba. All in all it was a great "cruise" but not the winning session i had hoped for. Cruisin is always great. Hope to do better this next VIP gambling cruise on the Liberty in a couple of weeks.

havent been to vegas in 10 years but going next month. any suggestions? (you seem like my kind of crowd:D:D:D)

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO LOVINCRUIZIN:I used to go to Las Vegas a lot then I even lived there for about 14 months during the building boom in the late '90's. I do have a suggestion. Hotels on Las Vegas Blvd. have the highest prices for rooms and food. You get good deals when you stay off of Las Vegas Blvd. Go have dinner one night at the Redwood Grille at the California Hotel. It is located at Main Street and Ogden. It is near Stewart Ave. which is where the bus terminal is. I thought the best downtown buffet was at the Main Street Station which is right across the street from the California Hotel and Casino. I checked a few months ago for a friend and you could get a good dinner at The Redwood Grille for under $25 per person.

The best buffet in Las Vegas I thought was The Great Buffet at Sam's Town Hotel and Casino. Serve all three meals there. Good food reasonable cost. Sam's Town, Texas Station, Orleans, are all resort hotels and have a lot to do there. They are also off of Las Vegas Blvd. so the cost is reasonable. All are easily accessible by bus.

Above all, have a really good time there.

dh & i play on the hold em table. we both have done well. but of course, this depends on how well you play. buy in for a little, walk away with over a grand, i think that's alright. :p

i have never had much luck with the black jack on a cruise but always do very good/well at land casinos. i'm not positive, but their auto shuffler and always replacing the cards has me scratching my head.

we had fun on craps table of course.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO LOVINCRUIZIN: If you want a comfortable place to play at once again stay off of Las Vegas Blvd. Main Street Station, California Hotel, Sam's Town, Orleans, Texas Station (they have a good buffett too). Also, you have many small places that mostly cater to locals.

Since I left Las Vegas they were also building on Boulder Highway. It is Freemont Street above Charleston Blvd.

If you are staying at the Monte Carlo then go down to where Bally's is. Go to the street behind Bally's. They have two hotel casino's near the corner. One is a Day's Inn and the other I think is a Motel 8. They both have good restaurants. They both used to give good meal deals. Also, not far from you is the Gold Coast. Go by Bill's Gamling Hall, used to be the Barbary Coast, get the bus going beyond Ceaser's Palace. You have the Rio Hotel and the Gold Coast. They both have good food and good gaming.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO LOVINCRUISIN:The name of the street behind Bally's is Koval Lane. Standing at the corner of Koval Lane and Flamingo Rd. you have the Days Inn to your right and across the street is the Motel 8. They both have good deals for meals there. Remember, go to places not on Las Vegas Blvd. The prices are better and it is where regular people who live in Las Vegas go. They are a little out of your way, but, it is worth it. Don't forget the Redwood Grill in the Hotel California. You will need a reservation. Same with Hugo's Cellar in the Four Queens.

it depends on your interests but The WTC memorial maybe worth checking out but I think you have to reserve in advance. I live right outside of NYC so I can help somewhat with things to see. The important thing about NYC is planning in advance since it can be quite cumbersome and time consuming to go from one part of the city to another. Small island but takes alot to transverse. If you plan you can group things to see in areas and go to that area directly.

Since you are so full of what I hope is excellent info, next month I have aconference at:

Hotel Indigo - Chelsea Area, 127 West 28th Street in NYC

Anything exciting that's a must see or must do?

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO LOVINCRUIZIN: Have you ever been to see a News Building? You could go to where Bloomberg, LLC is and get a tour of the facility. That would be different. Bloomingdales Department Store is also across the street. It is also near Central Park.

But, if you want to stay near where you are there are the West Side Piers on 23rd Street. They have a whole Park over there with lots of things to see and do. I have never been there myself.

It's actually the opposite nowadays. Staying on the Strip can be significantly cheaper. It's all about the hotel you stay at. If you stay at the Luxor, Mandalay Bay, The Mirage. You can find a room between $20-$40 a night. These Casinos are trying to stay packed in hopes that people gamble.

Going on my first cruise .. Royal Caribbean > Explorer of the Seas.

Anyone ever win a decent amount at the tables? What games do they usually have apart from 3 card poke, black jack, and caribbean poker?

Most of the games on the Cruise ship is B.S. but I'd have to say hands down, the best game to play on the boat is Roulette. Personally, my preference is poker and Blackjack but while on the boat, Roulette's the game to play, especially if you want to win big. Every trip that's I've cruised, I took home a minimum of $11K on an avg of 6 hours of total play per vacation. $11K being my last cruise.

The reason I like the Roulette tables on the seas is because the ship simply can't control the floors. What I mean by that is if you position yourself at the head of the table, you can feel the ship swaying one way or another. If you're able to figure out pattern of the throw of the ball and calculate the spin of the wheel, you'll notice that there is a pattern that if the boat is swayed one way, certain numbers are most likely to come up. If the boat is swaying the other direction, then other numbers are more likely to come up. When that occurs, you're able to increase the likely hood of you winning.

But when the boat is nice and steady and sailing in smooth waters, then there's no difference than playing in a land casino, the odds are in the houses favor. So when the boats smooth sailing I won't play.

So yes, I have won a decent amount every trip where my vacation was paid off and then some. But it's all dependent on me figuring out the math, and hoping for choppy waters.

Best of luck on the boat.
