Summer 2013 from Florida

I note there are a lot of American based posters on here reflecting that the majority of the Princess fleet are in the US for the winter. We are booked on the Grand this summer around the Med from Southampton where we live.

However starting to think about summer 2013 and would quite like to do the theme parks in Orlando and then 7 ish days cruise.

 

With all the expertise on this board wondered what people would suggest, which intinery, which ship etc?

There are very few choices for the Caribbean for the summer on all cruiselines.

 

One that you can consider is Freedom of the Seas (Royal Caribbean), which alternates 7 day Eastern Caribbean with Western Caribbean, and uses Port Canaveral as its homeport, year-round. Royal Caribbean also has two year-round ships in Fort Lauderdale, Oasis and Allure.

 

Just a note: most cruiselines are in the process of releasing their summer 2013 itineraries now, so if you look on their websites and don't find anything yet, check again over the next couple of weeks.

Disney Dream for 3 or 4-day to the Bahamas or Disney Fantasy for 7-day going to the Caribbean. Both depart from Port Canaveral.

Don't bother to check HAL's itineraries.

Several years ago HAL pulled all of their ships out of the Caribbean.

Many cruise lines start to have their ships leave the Caribbean beginning now as early as April and not returning until November.

Royal Caribbean's Allure Of The Seas and Oasis Of The Seas do seven day cruises from Port Everglades. Both ships do alternating seven day Western and Eastern trips. The Oasis Of The Seas leaves on Saturdays year round and the Allure Of The Seas leaves on Sundays year round. You can easily rent a vehicle from the Orlando area and travel to Fort Lauderdale in approximately four hours.
